Foreign aid, besides being unconstitutional, is basically just stealing money from the poor in one nation and giving it to the rich in other nations.

Your name is kind of familiar. Are you an actual anarchist, or am I thinking of someone else?

You must be thinking of someone else. I have NO PROBLEM at all with anarchy but I’m more of a Constitutionlist. But if we actually followed the Constitution in this country, 80% of our government employees would be out of a job.

Foreign aid is a good thing when it helps a nation get through a disaster or disease. It’s good when it helps a poor nation work it’s way out of poverty.

However, the way our government has provided foreign aid in the past, is that they place a lot of strings on it.

Under the Clinton’s, the nation we help must allow abortion and contraception, or they were denied.

Also, going in and providing free food just when that nation’s farmers were in the process of harvesting their crops in order to sell, bankrupted them as people chose free food over buying the food produced locally. This happened in Haiti.

I favor humanitarian aid and programs that help lead a nation to be independent, but it’s rare that happens in the correct way.

The global economy would crash 5minutes after Sara Sanders announced that the USA was stopping foreign aid immediately.
We don’t actually give that much in non-military aid. Also, most of our aid has been indirect, given through our favorable trade policies.

As the old saying goes…

“Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and you’ll have to share the pond with him.”

The Constitution doesn’t grant any rights. You need to look up positive grants I guess. The tenth amendment explains clearly why foreign aid is unconstitutional because of positive grants.
Are you referring to the Tent Ammendment which guarantees the rights of those in the rest of the world to live in a tents? 😎

you’ve dumped that responsibilty on your former north american colonists;

I would support foreign aid, if by foreign aid you meant me.

Trade policies seem to help the richest and strongest countries the most. Coffee plantation workers earn a few dollars a day, then commodity traders earn thousands of dollars buying and selling. Coffee growers should be paid a fair price for their work, why should all the big money go to greedy people?

Most of the money in coffee is in processing, but trade agreements penalise third world countries, and the real money is made in the rich countries.

Maybe you should spend some time in these countries.
Even if the wages seem low to you, working in export industries tends to pay better wages and does result in money flowing into their economies.
