What is your priest like?

My Priest is like a man who gave up his personal life to serve God and His children. The most selfless act and yet also the most self-fulfilling act. He is like any other Priest, an extra-ordinary man who answered Godā€™s call. His personality or style doesnā€™t really come into it (although I do like him), his commitment and sacrifice is what I admire.

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Teresa

White Dove you pretty much covered a lot of priests I know. Today I went to the most beautiful Mass with a very good priest very spirtual yet personal. My regular parish is a bit like a lot of the examples listed. I think I am going to make the drive a little more often it was well worth it.

Wow, Iā€™m a very lucky kid to have a priest like Father George. You can talk to him about anything, and heā€™s very charasmatic and likeable and a great preacher. My parish is blessed.

I didnā€™t check any of the above. The priest that is in my parish doesnā€™t fit any of the possible responses in your poll. Many of you are quite fortunate, but here in ā€œLiberal Diocese USAā€ we are not so blessed.

ā€œIn the Spirit of Vatican II, all you need to do is love Jesus and love each other and youir ensured a place in paradiseā€ This kind of sums it up when it comes to the teaching in the local parish.

The Pastor actually said in a Homily that ā€¦ ā€œAs long as you love Jesus, you donā€™t need to follow the Ten Commandmentsā€

( Before you ask, yes the local Bishop has been informed, several times about the Pastor and his teachings ā€¦)

Please pray for our Priests and our Bishop !!!

AMEN!! Our priest is wonderful. In honor of World Day of Prayer for Vocations (April 17th) I offered a holy hour for him, then wrote him a note of thanks for all he does. ā€”KCT

As for my own priest, he is a very gifted speaker, highly intelligent, but emotionally immature at times. He also is very spiritual, but holds bitter grudges. He is unskilled at running a parish but is a great counselor. He once said at the Vigil Mass, in one of his self revealatory moments, that a good friend of his told him that he (my priest) had more enemies than anyone else the friend knew. He said that his solution is to pray for his enemies (although, extending an olive branch is not his strong suit, thatā€™s for sure  )

But, the man can give an inspirational homily like Iā€™ve never heard. Too bad he doesnā€™t practise what he preachesā€¦

My priest can give good homilies but itā€™s pretty obvious he doesnā€™t stick to the traditions of the Church (i.e. loud rock music that makes it rather impossible to pray).

Actually, he had a good homily today about praying in total silence and letting God speak to youā€¦then the band starts upā€¦no waitā€¦the synthesizer keyboard that can also create karaoke music.

1 - Well, heā€™s skilled at running the parish (iron fist!). Heā€™s also very friendly and charismatic (especially with the lilā€™ ones), but I gotta say he strikes terror in me, so I donā€™t know how personable he isā€¦
2 - INCREDIBLE homilist, but not ā€œemotionally immatureā€ā€¦ VERY VERY orthodox and VERY VERY relevant, not the feel-good, lovey-dovey kind of thingā€¦ Iā€™m usually not too fazed by his homilies, even though they do hit where they should, but today I shifted uncomfortably in my seat, it was THAT good!
3 - ermā€¦ I have to say that I hide and go to Confession at other parishesā€¦ but the two or three times that I did confess with him gave me the impression that he knows what heā€™s doing and he does it quite well.
4 - Not even a sliver of liberalism or heterodoxy, thank God!
5 & 6 - Faithful servant, shepherd, and soldier for the Church. (We got on his bad side once for playing with a small stuffed animal cow on the ambo while the youth group set up the nativity scene for Christmas Massā€¦ He took the cow, gave us quite the chiding, and summarily threw the stuffed animal in the garbage. Boy, do I never want to be on the receiving end of his Look again!) Stern and dour but in a humble way. šŸ‘
7 - Not really, but he is picky about cleanliness. Itā€™s a little scary sometimes. Ah, the poor altar boysā€¦:rotfl:

Our parish is truly blessed. :gopray:

If every parish had a Father Mike there would be no problems in the world. He is dynamic, young so heā€™s great with the young kids and has brought many, many many, back to church just to hear him speak. He is inspiring, funny, yet teaches with authority. He is admired by all of his parishioners, never have heard one bad word said about him. Yet he is the most humble servant of God I have ever had the good fortune to meet. Praise God! is what he will say if you pay him a compliment. We have been truly blessed by his presence. He had been reassigned as of june and I cried that day in church when they announced it. Oh how blessed his new parish will be and they donā€™t even realize it yet!!! Oh yeh one last thingā€¦had him over for dinner last night and heā€™s a good eater too!!! important thing for women!! I hope I live to see the day he is made bishop, maybe the first American Pope. God Bless him in all he does.

Well, I am a parish priest but of the wrong cloth (I am Orthodox) but this Poll seems offensiveā€¦

The options which the Pollster has set up invite priest-bashing, negativity and a spirit of judgementalism.

o ā€œEmotionally immatureā€
o ā€œHe seems a little gayā€
o ā€œHe seems utterly neurotic.ā€

Is this thread in contravention of the Forumā€™s Rules which prohibit gossip, the solicitation of private information and the discussion of peopleā€™s characters? If it is not, it is walking a fine line šŸ˜¦

Fr Ambrose is correct. This thread is out of line.
