Evolution of What??
Are you talking the human body? I don’t see how accepting that the human mammal evolved from a simpler form, is so contradictory to the faith, or the Bible story in Genesis. That statement however, is not an endorsement of cross species evolution. The mechanics of the evolution of the human body are not known, even if one believes in evolution.
The evolution of Adam and Eve, two human beings made in the image and likeness of God, complete with reason, free will, and the higher emotions, that can not be attributed to evolution. The human soul, that image and likeness of God, did not and can not have “evolved.”
That God chose two members of the genus (species?) homo erectus (mammal who walks erect on two legs) and infused in them His likeness to make them Homo Sapiens, I think that is open to debate. To my way of thinking, that in no way, is contradictory to the faith held by the RCC.

Genetic material is passed on by descent. When we examine genetic material we see it is shared by all living things. Humans share half their genome with plans. Therefore, without any doubt, all living things are related by descent. The theory of evolution is not that this is a fact. It is a fact. It is not a theory. It is observable. The theory of evolution is the theory of how speciation occurs. Darwin identified that it is a result of gradual selection for advantageous characteristics. So far no alternative theory has displaced his. So many posts on CA are confused on the very basics.
