What is contery and classically?

Do you mean Country and Classical?

I clicked on pop but I am really into Oldies. I graduated in 1976 and should like rock but I was an Osmond fan (horrors:o ) I used to listen to adult contemporary stations, but for the past five years I listen to an oldies station that has a limited playlist (big complaints on the Philadelphia radio boards). Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons may not rock, but they pop!!

I gotta go with the “Devils Music” Rock & Roll 4 Ever! 😃

I like all types…but that devils music label jazz is unfair…ever hear Country? (Which I like btw) There’s as much boozing, fighting, sex and adultry in Country as there is in Rock!

Its just set to sweeter melodies so it goes down easier… 😉

I said ‘rock’ but technically I would classify my type of music as indie-rock. Most of my CDs are bands from the UK & Ireland, unknown in America. (With the exception of U2, Coldplay, REM and possibly a few others.)

Rap. I love rap. A lot. I don’t know why; I’m just attracted to it.

Of the ones listed, classical. But I listen to a lot of trip hop, acid jazz, and J-pop. 🙂

Country ala Toby Keith and Brooks & Dunn and Montgomery Gentry and Keith Urban (oh yeah ! :whacky:

Soft rock ala Chicago and Neil Diamond
~ Kathy ~ :coffee:

Classical music is my favorite – it just speaks to me the most. I do listen to other types of music (oldies, classic rock, traditional jazz, and others), but I listen mostly to classical. That’s what I enjoy singing the most, too.

My favorite is alternative…Green Day, Blink 182, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan…that stuff…I like a lot of heavier rock too though and even some country and rap…really I like everything, I guess 🙂

p.s. anyone have green day’s latest album? I think it’s their best in years.

Gotta go with “celtic punk”… The Pogues , The Tossers, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, etc., first and foremost.
Old British “progressive rock”… Genesis, Gentle Giant , King Crimson, Yes, Renaissance, etc.
Classic rock (Floyd, Zep, Deep Purple, Sabbath, etc.) is good.
Classical music occasionally (but NOT chamber music!)
Traditional music of any kind… Irish, Scottish, Cape Breton fiddling, old-timey Appalachian mountain music, etc.
Bluegrass!!
Folk music… Kingston Trio, Weavers, Joan Baez, etc.
ANY hammer dulcimer music!
Some christian rock (Kutless JAMS!!!)
Man, I guess I like almost anything except opera, mainstream country, rap  (not even classifiable as music!), and “elevator music” .

Peace

I voted for Classical, Rock and Pop. Classical 1st and foremost. (Hyden, Handel, Bach, Brahms, Mozart…)

Have you heard of the group Nuttin’ But Strings? I found them on Jay Leno I believe the other evening, but I don’t think they have even released a single yet. Anyway, It is two guys that play the violin for a clasical and Hip hop mix of music. I thought it was so cool.

Rock/folk. I like Dylan, Santanna, Mark Knopfler, Creed, Rolling Stones Jackson Browne, John MelloncampThe B-52s, Neil Young, Rush, Talking Heads, Tom Petty, Hootie and the Blowfish, Warren Zevon, The Wallflowers, Etc.

I also like to listen to Gregorian Chant.

I used to listen to all kinds of music. I would listen to rhythm and blues while driving in the car and usually listened to classical when at home relaxing. Several years ago I gave up listening to the R&B for Lent. When Lent was over, I turned the radio on in the car one day and was startled at just how immoral the lyrics really are. I still listened for a while but eventually lost interest in feeding my brain with the wrong messages. It’s scary to realize how quickly we desensitize to immoral things like lyrics. The same is true with some of the disgusting TV shows on today. They can seem immoral at first but the more we watch them, the more we desensitize and start laughing and thinking the shows are humorous and okay.

I love Gregorian chant! 😃

I love Classic Rock & by “classic” I mean 70’s rock, Boston, Bad Company, Skynyrd, Santana. I also dig 60’s Brit-Invasion, Acid Rock (The Doors) & some R&B, Soul & Mowtown. I grew up in the 80’s,so I do like the 80’s Metal & Hair-Metal Bands as well. I was also a little punk back in high school days.

I love all the music you listed here, CanonAlberic! especially the Pogues! and Bluegrass and old-timey Appalachian mountain music–absolutely! I am not familiar with Kutless, though.

I also love old-timey bluegrass gospel.

For Classical, I love the Renaissance period on period instruments. Also love the Baroque period, especially Bach. And the Medeival period as well. Italian opera is fantastic, too.

I just loves it all!!! 😃
