Well… I was watching The Daily Show last night and John mildy ribbing the new Pope… he brought up that a few years back, our new Holy Father called AC/DC, Led Zeppelin & The Eagles, the “devils music”. :bigyikes: He obviously hadnt heard of TOOL… 😃 Glad the Popes taste in music isnt Doctrinal… cause these are among some of my favorite groups. 👍

I voted for rock, even though I hardly listen to it anymore. It was almost a drug for me (along with many other drugs) when was younger. So it can tend to bring up memories I would rather not think about.

I still like to hear it when I’m together with friends at BBQ’s and what not. But mostly I like to listen to talk radio in the car.

My music is not listed as a choice, either. Contemporary Christian is what I listen to. I used to enjoy listening to secular music, but I found that once I started listening to Christian music I felt there was so much missing from secular. I consider listening to Christian just one more way I can worship the Lord. Plus, the music is GOOD! 👍

My favorite is Christian, but that wasn’t an option so I just went with pop.

I like contemporary Christian. Especially John Michael Talbot, but they won’t play him on the contemporary Christain stations like KLOVE.

I love classical but also jazz and bluegrass. Different activities require different music.

Jazz works for paying bills, rearranging the garage…
Bluegrass is great for cleaning house.
You can’t beat classical for keeping your cool in traffic.

My favorite music is Tejano. don’t know why it just is. I guess cuz it has some good rythm to it. It also makes you want to get up and dance.

Ok now I got a new poll for you with more choses and better spelling:o

I love all the music you listed here, CanonAlberic! especially the Pogues! and Bluegrass and old-timey Appalachian mountain music–absolutely! I am not familiar with Kutless, though.

I also love old-timey bluegrass gospel.

For Classical, I love the Renaissance period on period instruments. Also love the Baroque period, especially Bach. And the Medeival period as well. Italian opera is fantastic, too.

I just loves it all!!! 😃
Shane McGowen… hard to believe a toothless alcoholic could come up with such great stuff!
Anyway, Kutless is kinda sorta a little like Creed, except that I get the impression that these guys are genuinely young men of faith (not posers), and they are actually talented (sorry, Creed fans!).

Peace!

Country. The music is great and with very few exceptions, the lyrics are not offensive. In general I don’t like Christian music. I like Reliant K a lot, Switchfoot a bit and Jars of Clay sort of, but beyond them I think the music is terrible and the lyrics are nothing profound. Lyrics can (and quite often do) turn me off of a song/genre, but they very seldom make me like a song. If I want good words, I can read the Bible or countless books with an Imprimatur. I also like the Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables soundtracks, and sometimes Classical.

Lately it’s Josh Groban, which I suppose is contemporary/virtuosic. Other favorite secular artist is Neil Diamond. Gotta love Neil. And then there’s Enya, Eric Clapton, Willie Nelson, John Denver … talk about variety!

Christian groups? Selah, Chris Rice, OC Supertones, Caedmon’s Call, Ginny Owens, Creed.

I listen to pretty much everything except for Rap/Hip-Hop and Disco. I go through phases. If I have to pick a favorite it would be “progressive” rock, which is only called that because the bands that make up this genre defy classification. My favorite would be Rush, closely followed by Yes and ELP. I also have my old and new metal phase: Metallica, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, etc., and my country phase: Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson, etc., my classical phase: Motzart, Beethoven, Segovia, Montoya, my Blues phase: Stevie Ray Vaughan, etc., and what a friend of mine calls my “obscure super talented musician” phase (in which he also includes the prog rock bands): Dixie Dregs, Al DiMeola, Return To Forever, etc. There are of course many more but I’ve been long-winded enough. As for why I like what I do…who knows? Oh yes, he knows!

I like a bunch of differnt musics… I like classical, rock, some certain rap, pop, and country… as long as it has a beat, usually I am fine…(classical is exculded from that qualification and I just love it!)

**Classical **
Especially very powerful Sacred Choral arrangements of the masters!

Rock -n- Roll
Especially from the late 60’s and 70’s era - Rolling Stones, Led Zepelin, Queen, David Bowie, Eagles, ZZ Top, … List goes on…

**Folk **
Especially Celtic and American Western.

Never Country or Pop. 😛
