What keeps you Catholic? Not being converted to other Christian sects

We have the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church containing the fullness of God’s truth. Why would we want anything less?
 
Mainly discovering, through the wonderful work of some pretty incredible priests, that nearly everything that attracted me to evangelism is actually also Catholic (for you pompous out there, I “suffered from poor catechesis”).

I can also tell you what pushes me away form Catholicism: needlessly complicated language, holier than thou attitudes, snobbery against anyone who doesn’t attend the Latin Mass, etc…

We need to recognize that we are broken people, original sin broke us. Jesus saved us, but He didn’t remove the brokenness. Therefore, everything we do, every institution we construct, is also broken. When we stop recognizing that and start acting like we are perfect and the church is perfect, we drive people away.

There is so much!!! Oh my God, what would I do if I am not Catholic?!
I know there is a commercial where they say, “We know a thing or two, because we’ve seen a thing or two!” And with my faith, this is true as well. Private revelations have glued me down, and are the reason I am a revert to the faith. But that was God acting in extraordinary means.
But as far as ordinary means, Eucharist, Mass, and Confession made me and kept me Catholic. I can’t imagine walking through life without these three. And taking them seriously has and continues to make drastic improvements in my life, despite all the misery and difficulty this life brings forth.
 
I am Catholic because I believe. I believe:
  • Jesus Christ is God.
  • Jesus left us His Church (singular).
  • Jesus wants us to be a part of His Church (or else why would He have left it to us)?
  • That when I go before God in judgement I do not want to have to answer “But if you loved Me, why did you walk away from the Church I gave you?”
 
It keeps me Catholic because the Catholic Church is the Church of Truth (and Jesus is Truth). Scriptures and traditions confirm it, demons and exorcism confirms it, approved private revelations confirms it, miracles of Saints confirms it, incorruptible saints bodies confirms it, Eucharistic miracles studied by science confirms it. The truth is right in front of us. Easy peasy.

What keeps me Catholic?

It’s either Catholicism or nothing.

All of the other sects and religions are man-made.
 
Many years ago I tried to be Protestant. That did not last long. The people were often lovely, sincere in their love for Christ, and mostly very friendly. But there was no depth, nothing to engage the senses (except music), much disagreement on doctrine, no sense of true worship,
and NO EUCHARIST! I had no sense of being connected to Christians throughout the millennia, and the sermon, not praise and thanksgiving and sacrifice was the focus of the service. Plus, Catholics have much more Sacred Scripture in the Mass than I have ever encountered at a Protestant Service. And symbolism often speaks louder than words and gives much depth to our experience in the Mass (I am talking about symbolic actions, not the Eucharist).

Don’t get me wrong, I love my Protestant brothers and sisters, and believe they are just as committed to the Lord as committed Catholics are, but they just don’t know what they are missing. Never again, except when I visit some relatives and we go to both for the sake of peace in the family.

I just cannot put into words the difference, but it is like comparing a lake to the ocean.

Where would I go? The Catholic Church is THE CHURCH started by Jesus Himself, while he was still with us; She alone has the fullness of truth. :highprayer:
 
Having made that grave mistake once I assure you it will not happen again. (My Testimony)

The knowledge that the majority on n-C belief that even oppose Catholicism are not based upon any sort of proper interpretation of the scriptures and in fact contradict them even as they cherry pick them out of context in order to twist their interpretations to suit their own man made beliefs. When you couple that with the fact that Christian history shows that their modern new winds of doctrines of men contradict these as well you see an untenable faith system that is deceptive even when put forth by the most well intentioned people with Bibles in hand.

I love my Catholic faith and see no way back to my days in error.

Had a great Catholic education and instruction. My senior year of high school we studied other faiths, and Father, our teacher even had ministers, etc. from other faiths come and talk to us so we could ask them questions.
This was in the year 1963!
Even after my schooling I continued to study and learn more about our faith.
The Good, bad, and ugly, and that knowledge has made me unshakeable as to what I believe and understand, that our faith is the true faith.
 
There is a lot of evidence that the Catholic Church is true when you consider all the miracles that have occurred. That is what keeps me in the Catholic Church.

Because God loves me to much to change his definition of love to suit me!

Because I converted to Catholicism, in part, by hearing the best Protestant objections raised by some of the best Protestant objectors often in formal debate settings. James White was one of my heroes for something like 6 - 18 months. I promise you, there’s no one who can argue better than he for the historical, Reformed perspective, and I think Calvinism is by far the most intellectually robust of all forms of the Protestant objections to the Catholic religion.

But to be blunt, on a natural level, I simply don’t find their Scriptural reasoning and exegesis to be particularly compelling. I frankly find them to be so much sophistry rather than an obvious case against our faith.

But the best answer to this is grace: I am a Catholic because of grace, and because of the wonders that living a Sacramental life can invoke in a man’s heart.

I know the value of Baptism, and of Confession, and of the power of the priest when he confects the Holy Eucharist. To deny them would be to drastically and violently rebel against my conscience.
 
I was born a Catholic and will die a Catholic. Those other non-orthodox believing Christian sects do not have what we have - the sacraments and in particular the Holy Eucharist and I find great comfort in them.

You are absolutely correct! To me, Catholicism is such a beautiful and rich faith. I couldn’t imagine going back to a Protestant religion. So dull! Also they don’t have the very best thing of all…The Most Holy Eucharist! It would break my heart to not receive God every Sunday!
