What kind of flowers should I use when decorating my Mary home shrine?

Lily of the Valley! They are sometimes called ‘Mary’s tears’, because they were formed from her tears at the foot of the Cross. Also their oder is like spring-time. :heaven::gopray:
In German their name is “Maiglöckchen” (Little May bells), thus referring to the month which is traditionally dedicated to the Blessed Mother.

So you don’t think artificial flowers or plants are inappropriate…?
I’ve started feeling a little bit uncomfortable about that - I’m just not lucky regarding plants, I always forget to water them or I water them too much and then they die, so no living plant should be forced to abide with me 😉

Must I worry about insulting Our Lord or the Blessed Virgin by putting artificial plants on my home altar?
Not at all. They are symbolic. The point is in the giving, besides Mary would not like to see families in poverty taxed with expenses. But has I said on occasion real flowers would be appropriate if possible(cost, alergies, etc not withstanding of course).

Besides flowers, when I was a child we had a pair of blue votive candles in front of her statue. Today these blue candles can be had with electric bulbs and energized by batteries on a switch, which is fine. With the lights down low it was so beautiful and peaceful in the room it inspired us children to pray even more.
