What language is spoken in Heaven?

Has anyone ever thought of this before? Honestly I think Mary and the angels and saints speak latin up there, why else would it be the official language of Mother Church. Just a thought:D
 
… but I don’t know Latin. I was wondering if there is any class teaching Latin up there. I won’t have any money to pay if there is a fee. 😃

Nobody knows, or will ever know. I think it would be like the part in Acts 2 1-11 with the tongues of fire, everyone speaking different languages.
 
I think millions of languages are spoken there and they are all understood. Heaven is as rich in words as in colors and music and all kinds of good things. And they all praise God.
I think the original human language was a basically Hamitosemitic tongue God gave us along with the imagination to branch it out all we wanted.

It isn’t. It is only the language of the Roman Rite. As Roman Catholics we, together with the 22 Eastern Rite Churches, are all members of the Catholic Church. Latin is not the language of these Churches.
 
Why would we need to speak in human language in heaven anyway? we’ll all be able to communicate perfectly with each other, which I think necessitates that there be NO human language.
 
As my sainted father used to say:

In Heaven, the Priests minister in Latin;
The Theologians argue in German,
The Popes quarrel in Italian,
But the Holy Trinity converses in Gaelic.

Latin became the official language of the Roman Catholic Church in the Latin Rite. This was because Latin was more commonly shared among the Catholic populations of the West than any other language. It isn’t a more holy language which you seem to be suggesting.

Remember that when the Blessed Mother appeared to St. Bernadette, she spoke to Bernadette in her own patois, a dialect used by peasants along the Pyrenees mountain range.

There won’t be language barriers in heaven.

I don’t believe in speaking a language in heaven. We would
communicate without language.

Because in heaven we are not yet in our resurrected bodies, but spirits, I believe the communication would be the same as the angels do - thoughts transmitted without words. Humans on earth need words and language so that our sense of ‘hearing’ receives our thought. On occasion God Himself may speak to us in our own language through an interior locution, if necessary, especially when we fail to hear Him otherwise. Most of the time, He communicates with us us spiritually without words.

Wow! What an interesting question! I suppose any number of languages might be spoken in Heaven… because, in her many apparitions… (reported each time) Our Blessed Mother spoke the language and dialect of the visionary!

I’m sure also, that Our Lord spoke in Polish… when He appeared to St. Faustina. Italian, when He appeared to St. Francis of Assisi and St. Anthony, and so on.

Maybe in Heaven there is a brand new language that we don’t know of… on earth! But when we arrive in Heaven, we will automatically be fluent in this “heavenly” language! 👍 Guess we won’t know, till we get there! 😉
 
I don’t know but just a little thought…
When I think of heaven I imagine complete and perfect happiness and everyone there is praising God… so what better way to praise him than through sacred music? I bet many people here feel like they are in a piece of heaven whenever they hear gregorian chant. Maybe the language there will be more musical 😃 .

Whatever it is though, it must simply be beautiful 🙂
 
I don’t think it would be Latin since it might as well be Greek or Aramaic from that argument since those were the other languages around at the time. Also, what about the Eastern Churches. They didn’t start from Latin.

My guess is it will be similar to the Holy Spirit allowing the apostles to speak in many languages so everyone could understand. We probably just know every language in Heaven.

The original question makes me wonder what language is spoken in hell? Im guessing it wouldnt really matter since it would all be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Lets hope none of us finds out!
 
The language of love and holy silence.

Latin is NOT the language of all the Churches of the Catholic Communion; just the Roman one.
 
Since there are no bodies - but souls/spirits in Heaven, (aside from Our Lady and Our Lord’s risen Body) I’m going to venture a guess that vocal speech or language is not an issue but perhaps thoughts are readily shared in whatever Divine way God has ordained. :confused:
