What makes our religion different from other religions?

To Whom it may concern,
I was baptised a Catholic and have questions concerning christianity. Is it considered taboo to go outside of your religion and search for a new religion that better suits your needs. I was thinking about exploring buddhism becuase I found the beliefs in Buddhism was more appealing then living by the ten commandments. One more thing, how do we know for a fact that the bible is real. Aren’t all religions just theories passed down from many generations. Who is to say which religion is the right one? Is there any proof rather than the bible to say that god created earth? Pardon me if I am being offensive but I am just trying to seek out answers so I can have a better understanding of where I come from. What makes our religion different from all other religions? Who is to say who’s right pertaning to religion.

Hi Mike,

Your questions are not offensive because they sound sincere. To seek out another religion because one finds it more appealing is to miss the whole point of religion. People embrace the Catholic faith—not because they find that keeping the Ten Commandments is fun or appealing, but because they seek the TRUTH and have found it in Catholicism.

Of all religions that have ever existed, Christianity is truly unique. No other major religion has such a sublime understanding of God. Even the Jewish religion which distinguished itself by the sophistication of worshipping only one God, did not expect that God would actually become a man and then suffer and die at the hands of His own creatures. Such an act of love is beyond our ability to fully comprehend.

It is an historical fact that Jesus lived on this earth. What we believe about Him is the result of the faith and testimony of the first Christians who chose martyrdom rather than deny their faith in Him. It is highly unlikely that they would have chosen to die for a lie.
