What do people do when you feel loved by them? What do people do when you feel unloved by them? And, how do love those who make you feel unloved?

For me I feel more loved when someone takes an interest in me or says a kind word or a gift or a hug or some measure of affection. I feel most unloved when ignored. It is hard to deal with people who are like that. Often I encounter people who are so wrapped up in themselves they don’t even notice you. I am guilty of doing this to others also. I wonder too if God feels hurt when we live like he is not there? Ignoring him as we go about our day, never stopping to thank him or appreciate him?

I think one of the strongest signs of love is when someone does something on another’s behalf that requires sacrifice. Or we see someone doing something they don’t “like” to do, but they do it anyway, for the sake of the beloved.

When they’re always kind to me, and smile at me, and have warm & caring body language towards me, and are willing to favors for me that inconvenience them, and yet they show no signs of being unhappy about it.

When someone else seeks me out, friend or family with a visit or phone call, email.
Through a strangers smile,a child’s interest ,something special in nature-a reminder of Jesus love for me.Prayers and support from fellow CA members.Affirmation.

Well this is me saying hello Carl…I have no gifts to offer, however…and I am afraid a hug is strictly out of the question…unless you are planning a trip to central AB… 😉

Ha, ha. Thanks. :grouphug:

The couple who spent half their day off in Holy Week working magic along one side of my living-room.

I don’t know why you are asking the question but just have to say that I don’t know if you can go by ‘feeling’… People can feel ‘not loved’ when they are truly being loved. Sometimes what feels like love is not love either.

The following verse describes what love is:

1 Corinthians 13:4-8New International Version (NIV)

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Jesus also tells us to treat others as we ourselves would want to be treated.

Have you ever read “The 5 Love Languages?” 5lovelanguages.com/

It gives 5 categories people usually use to express/receive affection.
  1. Words of affirmation.
  2. Acts of service.
  3. Gifts.
  4. Quality time.
  5. Physical touch.
I think we often feel loved by several of them. Some suggest we learn our significant other’s dominant language of love and work from there.

I like all of them. I like words of encouragement and affirmation. I love it when my boyfriend fixes things for me. It tells me that he cares enough to do this for me. Gifts I don’t think are as important. Quality time is important. Physical touch is important. I like to be held.

With friends, words of affirmation and quality time seem to be what I like.

As to God, I don’t think he gets hurt. That’s just my opinion. When we get hurt, it’s generally an expression of the ego. I believe that God can’t be hurt, emotionally or physically. Why would he create a creation that would hurt him? I don’t think he’d do that. I think we project our own fears and insecurities onto God.

Just my :twocents:

How do people make me feel unloved…by excluding me, not saying “please”, “thank you”, “hello”. Sarcasm makes me feel unloved, because it’s about as far from empathy as we can go.

When someone won’t listen (actively or passively) are cold, distant. When people yell at or use bad language to correct when it’s unnecessary, I feel unloved.

Sometimes when people use silence, I feel unloved, when they won’t talk about what’s wrong or open up, stay closed instead.
