Is it spiritual reading of the bible? The Eucharist? praying? what makes you the most spiritual, also do you ever feel a sadness from being so holy, that your not like others? that sounds bad i know
The bet way for me to measure my spirituality is to compare it to a couple of years ago, five years ago, ten years ago and I can see I am much better spiritually now then I was. I wouldn’t want to compare myself to someone else.
If I thought I was so holy that I’m not like others, even to the extent that it made me sad, I would reflect that if I’m looking at anyone other than God for comparison purposes, I’m not holy enough to be worrying about being holy.
Right now, I like Adoration. Like Nelka, if I’m going to look at myself that way, I look back to see how far I’ve come. And then I look forward at how far I have to go and quickly look away and start praying that I won’t get discouraged!
To be perfectly blunt, anyone spending a day with me knows full well that the last thing I am is holy, and the first thing I am is a complete idiot. I’m well aware of that myself.
But yes, I do get sad sometimes that very few of us take Catholicism very seriously. And I definitely include myself in that, and not just because I know I’m supposed to.
