I want to see what devotions, prayers and methods of prayer we on CAF use most often.

I hesitate in calling the Rosary just a devotion and prayer, as it’s MUCH more than that. As is the Divine Mercy and LOTH/Little Office, but you all know what I mean.

God Bless :signofcross::byzsoc:

I pray the rosary, read Scripture, and also just pray to whomever, spontaneously throughout my day. I talk to Jesus a lot, and the Saints as well.

My spirituality is very Ignatian- so I try to live like everything I do is prayer.*** Ad majorem Dei glorium***!! 😃

I use the daily readings in “Ignatian-style” contemplative prayer and do the Examen, a shorter one at my mid-day, and the standard Examen at night before bed.

I also do a lot of ‘spiritual reading’ and journaling.

I tend to follow the Plan of Life, a collection of daily prayers and readings made by St. Escriva (though I’m not an Opus Dei member). Essentially, Morning Offering, Scriptural/Spiritual reading, the Angelus prayer at noon, Rosary, and Examination of Conscience.

Before Reconciliation each Saturday I also like to pray the Stations of the Cross and Chaplet of Mercy.

The first Saturday devotion in Reparation of Mary’s Sacred Heart has worked wonders for me as well.

Especially when I’m busy, I find a few set, steady devotions like these very helpful for my spiritual growth. 👍

Daily Mass

Weekly Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom

It’s hard to choose a favorite way. I pray the rosary each day, along with several Divine Mercy chaplets, and also a group of prayers that I meditate on as I read them. Other times I simply talk to the Lord about my problems or joys. Sometimes a new problem arises that seem to signal me to recite the Divine Mercy chaplet, such as a serious illness, or knowing someone is in danger of dying. Other times I feel that intercession to Mary could be very effective. This calls for recitation of the rosary, or the Memorare. Whatever we pray, and for whatever cause, it should always be heartfelt. I imagine the Lord cringing when I hurry through some routine prayers.

Forty minutes of prayer daily, consisting of various formal prayer to Father,Son and Holy Spirit,Mother Mary,Angels and Saints, interspersed with personal conversation with Our Lord.😉

Rosary the most, but I also do the Stations of the Cross, and Litany of the Sacred Heart.

I do daily prayer time in the morning that includes thanksgiving, petition, intercession and scripture + saint quotes.

Then I also post my thoughts concerning Catholicism on my blog, so I pray during those posts, too.

I also go to work and back singing praise and worship songs in my car 😃

I mostly pray the Most Holy Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet but there are other prayers that I pray as well. I have a prayer book that has several litanies in it and I often pray them privately at home.

Aside from weekly Mass, my prayers are of the Ignatian strand: meditation and contemplation on scripture passages, examen, and sometimes prayer journals.

Most of my prayers are extemporaneous or ejaculatory in nature.

I do occasionally pray the rosary or the divine mercy…but I must admit that this is mostly if I have trouble sleeping…The rosary is a great way to fall asleep and you have the nicest dreams. 😉

I also have a personal chaplet that I am developing…slowly…built on the Lord’s prayer.

Peace
James

I make a morning offering and add free form prayer over the course of the day. When I’m driving , I like to sing along with the chaplet of divine mercy and pray the rosary (with Sacred Heart radio).
Before or after mass at my FSSP church, I like to open my '62 handmissal to whatever page comes to hand and practice contemplative prayer. (The red books have some great pre and post communion prayers also.) At my local church, I use a spanish translation for contemplation or sometimes I’ll just find a good hymn and meditate on the words.
I also like to read the prayers of fellow CAF posters. Sometimes I pray along, other times, I’ll meditate on a new prayer. Thanks to all of you for your inspiration!🙂

My wife and I pray the Liturgy of the Hours, one or two of them anyway everyday. In addition, I do the Jesus Prayer and the Trisagion regularly and am currently trying to find a prayer rope that I like to enhance that method of prayer. I also do some personal private prayers (petitions, thanks, etc.) and am trying to work on my Lectio Divina. I read either Scripture or a Spiritual Text and a commentary on the Holy Rule every day, but I don’t think you could confuse that with my doing Lectio at this stage.

My prayer life has improved dramatically since I started working on these things, particularly since I started trying to incorporate Benedictine Spirituality into my life. I still obviously have a very long way to go, but I can see the changes to, which is fulfilling.

Peace,

I suppose I should add that I also do the occasional Rosary or a devotion to St. Michael. However, the things listed above make up the “core” of my prayer life, combined of course with the Mass.
