I attended a High Mass today at an FSSP Church this morning. I’ve gone to a couple of low masses there. It was packed. Anyway - I have no missal, but noticed a really nice one a row away from me that had pictures (drawings) on pages that showed what the priest would be doing (posture at least) for the following section.

It was in a black carrying case.

I would like to get this missal - does anyone know what it is?

Thanks!

it may have been the 1962 version, many coloured pictures.

You can find missalettes that have the pictures of the priest with the translations and such, but alas, they are fro mthe SSPX. The little booklets are very cheap, but very good. I went to an indult Mass that used the SSPX booklets…weirdly enough.

Many, if not most, traditional missals have such pictures. These were not limited to any one publisher.

Perhaps it is the St. Joseph Missal. It is nicely illustrated with red and black print.

Thanks all! Now all I need is a mantilla, and I am good to go!

I have a black bound New Marian Missal for Daily Mass by Sylvester P. Juerges, S.M. published by the Regina Press, New York. The imprimatur is dated 31 May 1950 (in Latin of course) but the preface is dated in 1950 Inside it has the Latin mass on one side and the English translation on the other, with the exceptions of explanatory matter which is all in English. The rest of the missal is in English. It is about 2 inches thick and is about 3 3/4 wide by 6 inches long. It has 1445 pages, and, in my opinion, seems like a compendium of Catholic worship, information and practical advice for the layman, including instructions for lay baptism in the case of someone, particularly an infant, who is dying.

There were a lot of such Missals sold back then. If you can, get your hands on one and start reading for pleasure.
