It was during Lambing season, that is why the shepherds were in the fields with their flocks at night, to protect the baby lambs…so was it March?
I beg your pardon there was nothing bad spirited about that question…I thought it would be fun to do a bit of detective workThat type of question usually comes from bad spirited people.
What difference does it make? None! Its irrelevant. It was during Lambing season, that is why the shepherds were in the fields with their flocks at night, to protect the baby lambs…so was it March?
Interesting … I am taking a refresher RCIA course and the book we are using suggests that it wasn’t a common occurrence …the sheep were not shepherded at nightFor what it is worth, I’ve known some people who raised quite a few sheep and with them, it was common practice to have someone with the flock, every night. Sheep out in the wilds of the Wyoming are prey to many creatures and having a shepherd nearby could make the difference in feeding the family or feeding the wolves.
My guess is that it would be the same in the Middle East.

I agree. After all the threads tearing into the minutia of this and that, this seems harmless and interesting. If someone isn’t interested in it, why not just ignore the conversation? It’s just a bit of harmless fun …sheesh…why be a wet blanket…
He was conceived on March 25th according to early Church tradition, so the December 25th date seems, if not accurate, at least close. It was during Lambing season, that is why the shepherds were in the fields with their flocks at night, to protect the baby lambs…so was it March?
If it makes you feel better I think even the year is wrong, if you find out in my lifetime let me know or if you get to heaven first send us back a message if Jesus will let you know.It was during Lambing season, that is why the shepherds were in the fields with their flocks at night, to protect the baby lambs…so was it March?
I’ve heard that same evidence used to come to a December answer…It was during Lambing season, that is why the shepherds were in the fields with their flocks at night, to protect the baby lambs…so was it March?
I don’t know why we can’t just believe the Early Church. Is there something to suggest that they didn’t know what they were talking about?I will be interested to hear what they say about it in RCIA…there are a lot of different theories…Some say late summer during the Jewish festival of Booths…I am not sure what the reasoning for that is…But a lot of people have really studied this, and will give you a plausible explanation for why they feel it is a certain time of year
Well we know Jesus came 3 months after John or was it 6, anyways ask John.I’ll ask Mary, I think she might be the authority…We will meet in heaven for tea and thrash it out…
Six.Well we know Jesus came 3 months after John or was it 6, anyways ask John.I would like it to stay December 25 because that is my B-Day too of course not that year. ha ha I always made Jesus a birthday cake, and I think He was smiling at me for it. So you will crash my birthday if you change it. Do you suppose He thinks this is silly?
