Sorry to hear that. In that case, you can request a copy direct from the Church by following this link. You can also locate the nearest LDS church in your country (if there is one) by following this link. The Church is bound to have some kind of presence in your country, even if it consists of expatriate Americans. Almost any Mormon you meet would be happy to give you one. There are lots of other ways that I could think of for you to obtain a copy, including buying one from your nearest LDS distribution center by following this link. But why buy it when you can get one for free! If all else fails, email your private address to me, and I will send you a copy free of charge.actually Mormonism does not exist in my country thats why i’d look for something online.
There used to be a famous American university in Beirut, which employed lots of American professors. But that was before all the troubles started. I suppose they have all left by now. I bet there are still some Mormons left in Lebanon, but they are keeping a low profile. They don’t want to get into trouble! If there are any Mormons in the Middle East, They are most likely to be found in Lebanon, because of its large and well established Christian community. In any case, if you write to any of the Church offices whose addresses you can find on the Internet, and explain your situation and request a copy of the Book of Mormon, it will eventually get passed on to the right people, and you will get a free copy.Zerinus,
i do not live in the States. Am from Lebanon. There are neither Mormons, nor Mormon church, nor Mormon libraries, and the majority of Lebanese do not even know it exists or what it means. This is why am asking for online stuff. thx anyway i already got some links.
OK I grew up in the Mormon Church and reached the level of high priest (not as exciting as it sounds I was 14).
The Mormon Church teaches that Jesus was the Archangel Michael in the ‘pre-existsence’ and that He only became God when He assumed the mantel by perfect obedience to the Father. This teaching is also vaguley flavored by the later teachings of Pelagius whom Augustine swept aside. The LDS Church absolutely denies the co-eternal nature of the Christ and in doing so steps away from a doctrine which was established and agreed upon before Nicea in 325. In fact this question began when John wrote “and God was the Word” in John 1:1.
Sorry but at age 14yrs or even 15yrs you could have only been a Teacher in the Aaronic Priesthood.
Mormon’s do not believe that Archangel Michael was Jesus you might want to brush off your Doctrine and Covenents and read 27:11 to see who they believe Michael was.
If they believe this Nicaean Doctrine of the trinity before roman emporeror Conatantine convened this council why was it necessary to even hold it? So your statement or use of the phrase “before Nicaea” must be disreguared.
My John 1:1 in my King James version it says " In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Checked the other translations you may have referenced and did not find it stated that way.
Thank you Dia Jen Feng, and welcome to the board.bogeydogg;2848761:

Doesn’t change what he was saying, which was, Mormons deny the co-eternal nature of Jesus and God the Father. And I’ll add that Mormonism denies that God is eternally God.

Is it reasonable to discard what you don’t know? I suggest you study up on Christian history, from the Apostles onward, without skipping 1800 years. Hint: Heresies of Arius.

So he got the quote backwards, that does not change what he was saying.

RebeccaJ,
Actually I was researching when I ran into this thread. Studied the Nicene Creed, The Council of Sardician, The Definition of the Council of Chalcedon Ad 451, and the Athanasian Creed 9th century which I guess is what the Catholics have finaly settled on? (question have to assume based on the time line).
Arius had it right, I like him. Thanks for the tip.
Prior to the council at Nicaea there were at least 4 councils before the Council of Sardician in 341, which were discussing this topic. The council of Sardician was called to “series of councils called to adjust the doctrinal and other difficulties caused by the Arian heresy” which dealt with this topic. Anyway the use of the phrase “before Nicaea” must be disreguarded becuase it was still up in the air.
Apostacy was rampant wasn’t it?
RebeccaJ;2873738:
There was no “up in the air” of any sort. Martyrs died from the very beginning, professing faith in ONE TRUE GOD. They, and the Christian faithful like them were in no confusion in what they believed. Early Church writing, all long before the Council of Nicaea, clearly state a Trinitarian belief, both in doctrine and the belief of Christians, in all areas where Christianity had taken root.Is it reasonable to discard what you don’t know? I suggest you study up on Christian history, from the Apostles onward, without skipping 1800 years. Hint: Heresies of Arius.

And yes, the Catholic Church is the protector of Christianity. Which includes protecting Christ’s teaching against heresies. Including Arianism, Mormonism and a long list of 'isms.
The Arians were not following Christ’s teachings. Neither are Mormons. And like all heretical sects who are in error you believe, in ignorance, that you are correct.
Stop trying to get missionaries and mormons to the door of inJesus. The BoM can be read online and can be printed if a hard copy is the preference. There is no reason for you to be encouraging contact with mormons other than a conversion effort. There used to be a famous American university in Beirut, which employed lots of American professors. The request came from her. She wanted information on reading the Book of Mormon, and I directed her how to get one. Stop proselytizing on a Catholic BBS. It is not here for your purposes. People don’t spend their time, effort and money on running this forum in order for you to lead people to mormonism.
Changes to Book of Mormon and other Latter-day Scripture — View scanned images of key altered passages from the original 1830 edition of the Book of Mormon, the 1833 Book of Commandments and the 1851 Pearl of Great Price. The request came from her. Zerinus, is there a Book of Mormon online for me to read?
You can read all of the LDS scriptures online at scriptures.lds.org/
**This is zerinus, trying to get the missionaries to inJesus’ door.Yes, all LDS standard works are online to read from the Church’s website. You can start here. However, the Book of Mormon is sizable book. It is about 500 pages long, and has a complex structure in places. It is not so convenient to read online. You would be much better off obtaining a copy the book. You can obtain a free copy from any Mormon missionary, or your local branch of the Church. Look up the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the phone book. Depending on where you live, you should have several options listed. If you give them a ring, somebody will tell you a convenient way to obtain a free copy of the book.

You are the one who is lying about Elder Holland. That is not what he said.
zerinus
You did not. You quoted out of context, and you omitted a lot of stuff in the middle. What do you think, people are stupid? You don’t seem to have a lot of respect for the intelligence of your fellow Catholics. I don’t think they will be very pleased if you keep treating them like they were idiots.
zerinus
How does the extraneous stuff I left out change the meaning of Elder Holland’s claim that the Nicene Creed says that God the Son is without body, parts or passions? That is the part I wanted to address, so that is the part I quoted.
It is common practice on a forum to quote only the part of a statement that you want to discuss, so long as you don’t change the meaning of that part. How did my use of elipses change Elder Holland’s claim?
You still have not explained your thinking in this. Are you able to explain it, or is this just more of your anti-Gentile venom?
I really want to know.
Paul
No idea what you are talking about.
Answer same as above.

zerinus has no interest in understanding. He is only here to promote his religion and the beliefs they hold. He’s not kidding guys he really does not have any idea what we are talking about, but he does want everybody to think that he and his real God Joseph Smith will be in some science fiction multi level paradise where they can drink beer and chase around one of their 20 different wives.![]()
