I completely understand that movies with lots of sexual “stuff” and lust in them would be, but what about movies with gore. For instance, Saw, Candyman, and those kinds of horror fillms.

What about shows like Law and Order SVU or Sopranos?? What about movies like The Godfather or Scarface?

If you go to the USCCB Office of Film and Brodcasting you can find the ratings of many films. (I don’t think yo can query for “all the morally offensive” films though)

Also, NB: “O - morally offensive” does not mean “Catholics may not view this movie” – It means “If you choose to view this movie, expect your sense of morality to be offended”

I’d also go to www.decentfilms.comI’ve heard Stephen Greydonus (sp) on Ave Maria Radio is he usually a pretty good judge of a movie - not too strict but also gives you the Catholic perspective.

I also believe that the guidance offered is done in view of what the context of the story line and the subject matter. It is then up to the individual to decide if that is what you wish to view.

I have to tell you I struggle with this…I love scary movies, but I am so tired of the gory-slash-em type films…I love detective stories but I was so disappointed with the last Law and Order I saw that was the take off on the Schaivo case…so, I am finding myself reading more and more…and watching Jeff Foxworthy …lololol
