I was thrilled when the Syfy channel ran a “Twilight Zone” this week – I’ve been watching the entire series again. I’ve also been rewatching the original “Dallas” (😳) and that’s been a hoot. The hairstyles, the clothes, the computers… 😂 I watched Netflix’ “Tiger King,” which was a train wreck and a good distraction (not for those who don’t watch programs with homosexuality or foul language).

What are you watching these days?

Gave up T.V. and watching any programs/movies for Lent. This quarantine couldn’t have come at a better time.

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

Twilight Zone marathon was on Sci Fi channel earlier this week. I’ve seen most of the them so many times but I still watched some. They never get old. My cable company is giving Showtime for free because of the shut down. I caught up on the first eight episodes of the final season of Homeland. Since I’m caught up I have to wait until Sunday when a new one airs.

Ha! I have to admit that I’ve chucked nearly all of my Lenten plans. Seemed like God had a different plan for our family this year.

I watch a lot of documentaries on Netflix. I love shows with lots of seasons. It means I can watch for a long time and not have to search for new shows! 😊

I am also drawn to crime/police shows, especially ones from Britain. Loved Broadchurch and Hinterland. I was sorry when they ended.

Also watched a ton of American prison documentaries like I am a Killer.

I started watching Tiger King. Need to get back to it.

I should add we don’t have cable station, we have Roku, hence the dependence on Netflix and Hulu, haha!

I watched Tiger King and was fascinated by it. I didn’t approve of much of what
I saw though from lifestyles to the animals used to make money.

I like the U.K. crime dramas also. Some of the true story killer documentaries I have to watch sparingly because they are so disturbing.

Netflix does have a lot of interesting documentaries. I am watching one now
on Orson Welles. I like the documentaries about musicians.

I’ve been watching season 2 of the new Lost In Space this week. I may lose my Trekkie card for this, but I think I’m enjoying LiS more than the new Star Trek shows on CBS All Access.

Also watched an interesting documentary on Netflix called Crip Camp, about the disability rights movement. Content advisory though – it is rated R, mainly for language, but there is also a brief clip of a drag show.

How gory is this Tiger King documentary?

I read that it seems very neutral on the animal abuse aspect, and that there are scenes of abuse of baby tigers.

By chance while waiting for someone at a doctor’s office, I read an article about Joe Exotic. Chilling that someone could just own tigers, not secure them properly, and call it a zoo. The article touched on his inability to afford to feed the tigers, at a certain point was buying horses and if I remember might have been feeding the horses to the tigers live.

I also thought he was a sex predator, with a string of 20 year old “husbands” and just really psychopathic in his description on what he’d do to that Carol lady.

For films. I started watching “Ryan’s Daughter”. Then I stopped.

Then I rented an Italian film, called “Seduced and abandoned”

I’m also watching “My Brilliant Friend” on HBO.

I’ve been watching a lot of westerns. The Searchers, the Outlaw Josey Wales, the Wild Bunch. Also watched a few other Sam Peck(name removed by moderator)ah movies like The Getaway.

From my perspective, it’s not gory.

There is a clip showing dead exotic animals that had to be shot when some guy who had them in his backyard decided to let them go (I think in Ohio?). And toward the end it seems Joe’s animals aren’t be cared for all that well. It’s pretty minimal content compared with the rest of the show. But my brother, for example, is someone who can’t stand to watch any scenes involving animals being mistreated and for him, these small moments would be enough not to watch at all. I suppose it depends on the viewer.

I didn’t see any live animals being fed to his tigers. His means of securing meat were…sketchy. If cows died at feed lots, if deer were hit on the road, etc., he got their carcasses. He also got meat from Walmart through a deal with it, including some that was expired. His workers were paid so poorly that they often took some of this meat for themselves.

I don’t know if he’s a legitimate sex predator but he definitely was promiscuous. It seemed like he needed to control his partners. And yes, he was insane when it came to Carole. Scary insane! The videos he made and the threats he made in them were really bizarre. 😳

I showed my husband the first two episodes last night and after the first he said, “Well, I’m hooked.” It’s that kind of show. If nothing above is too disturbing for a viewer, it’s definitely a distraction from the coronavirus nightmare.

I will have to look for the one on Orson Welles! I caught Citizen Kane last week. Always a fantastic watch.

I love ST but I have zero interest in the new CBS show. Maybe because I’d have to pay extra for it?

Great idea! If it worked to distract folks during WWII, it should work well now too. 🙂 Awesome choices.

Oh, also, on Tuesday night, I watched The French Connection on Hulu before it expired from that service. I’d never seen it. Entertaining, but a tad confusing in parts.

I watched Red River on the Criterion Channel recently. It was one of three movies they were featuring with Montgomery Clift. From Here to Eternity (not a Western) was another with Clift that I watched. Both have since gone off that service.

Watch out! The Twilight Zone (in its time) was considered liberal indoctrination!!! Rod Serling was pro-civil rights and inserted a lot of anti-prejudice themes in his stories. He also had far more minority actors than was usual during those times. In addition, his show on the Berlin wall was really a timeless lecture on hate.

Its interesting to view the shows now and wonder why conservatives got so incensed. For me, Serling smoked too much!!!

The oddest movie I watched during the lockdown is “The Talented Mr. Ripley”. Kind of odd.

Rod Serling was an inspiration. Unfortunately, I simply don’t have the talent. Not even for a short story. But yes, there was always a social, moral point to his stories.
