What are the secrets of Islam? What are they “muslims” not telling converts before they say the shahada?

Anyone?

Nothing, as it would invalidate the shahada.

There are things that are played down however…😉

So they are not told anything?

I have a friend who is a recent convert and she makes it seem all “roses and candy”; I am not sure I by that. 🤷

She is strong on the theory of one God and no partners; so she says she was drawn to Islam.??
But its the rest of Islam I am not sure she gets.

Maybe I am wrong?🤷

I guess I will look into it more and stop being so judgmental.

My apologese. I meant that there is nothing that they arn’t told, as lying would invalidate the shahada.

You may want to ask her if she’s read the Qur’an from end to end. For me, thats what turned me off the religion when I was thinking of converting.

surely there are topics that will not be immediately brought up before a convert…surely they will not tell her : don’t convert unless you believe that beating women is a divine order so don’t make a fuss about this teaching later…they will not tell her that if she marries a Muslim, he has the right to bring home till 4 women and divorce her with a single uttered word…they will not start talking about Muhammad by saying he married his adopted son’s wive, had sex with 11 women in the same day and ordered men to take sex slaves…obviously these are a turn off for a possible convert…they will show the good teachings of Islam.

Drawn to Islam because there is one God without partners? and who says He has partners? Muhammad’s ignorance of theology of course…besides, the Quran per Islam is the uncreated and eternal word of Allah…if the Quran is the word of Allah uncreated and eternal yet Allah is one , remind her that Muhammad failed to grasp this teaching of Christinity.

I might be derailing the thread here slightly, but I had to mention something that has bothered me ever since I started learning about Islam.

My old bosses were Muslims and I was working with them as I was going through a Divine conversion process and searching for truth among all the religions.

Anyways…one time I searched for the Qur’an on the internet and I came upon this translation that said repeatedly:
“The Christians and Jews must die”
“Kill the Christians and Jews”

and it repeated like this for quite some time that I got bored reading the same thing.

What is weird is I have never been able to find this on the internet again and have been afraid to search for the actually words because I just did not want to be typing those words in my search engine.

The site that had this claimed to be a translation of the Qur’an…and like I said, I have never seen it again.

It was really weird…

I know this is a far-stretch…but at the time I had this though that with all the different dialects and everything that could somehow the Qur’an translate that way somehow…I know…that makes NO sense!

Maybe you read a paraphrase of this:

Fight those who believe not in God nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by God and His Apostle, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued. S. 9:29

People of the Book in Muhammad’s dictionary mean Jews and Christians.

What I said about the translation thing is probably the furthest thing from the truth.

It was not a paraphrase though:
It repeatedly said these two same things. At least a hundred times…like I said I stopped reading because that is all it said.

This thing claimed to be the beginning of the Qur’an. I wondered if possibly someone posted it on the internet trying to make Islam look bad. I do not know.

All I know is that it was strange and until my Muslim friends/boss gave me an actualy Qur’an I thought this is what the Qur’an said in it.

I think you may be exaggerating a bit of the frequency of the verses, but I’ve seen them too.

They refer to a specific historical context in which Muhammed and the companions were at war with them. Of course, this brings up the question of why there is redundant verses that no longer apply in the Qur’an.

I am actually not exaggerating. I distinctly remember because I kept scrolling and scrolling and I no longer wanted to keep reading because I could clearly see that there was no other text to follow.

Very strange…like I said…it was stranger that I have never been able to find that ever since.

Saying Muslims worship a moon god is similar to saying Christians worship a cross or that Catholics worship Angels and Saints and Mary and Statues and Icons and the Pope. (Wow…no wonder we Catholics are always being harped on.)

Muslims definitely, genuinely worship what they believe to be the one, true God. (And they do not believe that God to be the moon.)

They believe in the same concept of God as Christians do, they just disagree on the nature of God.

There is nothing that they don’t want you to know. They tell you what they believe, fortunately or unfortunately, not what Chritsians think they believe. 🙂

er…they dont worship a moon god. Though that is a common myth.
In the book “no god but God” by Reza Aslan he states that Allah was a moon god that was elevated from his status to the god of Islam. I was a bit shocked to see this come from a Muslim.
Some traditions Muslims celebrate are rooted in the pagan society in Mecca at Muhammad’s time. Makes you wonder.
Muhammad was a soothsayer just as many of the people of his time in his society were. Muhammad was a educated soothsayer and nothing more. He told people what they wanted to hear.

Hmm, I’ll have to read the book as it does seem strange for a Islamic scholar to say that.

I have a few more titles; I will have to dig for them.
I will post them later when I find them.
