I have a friend who was divorced. She is very devout. I don’t know if her marriage was annulled. I don’t think so because she told me she couldn’t get married in church. She has married another man outside of the Church. He is an unbeliever. However, she is carrying on in her ministries of chorister and catechist. She is receiving Holy Communion. I did bring this up with my priest and I did say that I didn’t know the circumstances and that maybe they were living chastely. I didn’t name her and I said that it was probably not my business and he agreed but…I don’t know the facts. All I know is that they are not sacramentally married. They are both too old to have children. Should I accept the status quo? It does disturb me if the Blessed Sacrament is defiled.
