When Pope John Paul II added the Luminous Mystery, he also stated that we should pray about what day we should say each mystery. Although, I try to walk Our Lord’s life daily evey if I don’t get all of the Hail Mary’s in. Here is what I was lead to by the Spirit:
Try to walk the life of Christ as much as possible. On Holy Thursday, Christ experience the Last Supper—therefore, Thursday had to be the Luminous Mysteries. And, Friday, had to be the Sorrowful mysteries since that was the day Christ died for us. That would make Wednesday the Joyful mysteries and Saturday the Gloryful Mysteries.
So, what to do about Monday, Tuesday and Sunday. Tuesday was already the sorrowful so that would make Monday the Luminous—plus, I felt that God really wanted to emphasize the time He actually spent as the Word of God…the Luminous years. So, Luminous for Monday and Sorrowful for Tuesday.
As for Sunday, that changes as the season of the church changes.
So, what is the current official stance by the church on this topic?
