What name did you choose for your Confirmation and why?

I’m getting confirmed later this year, but want to start thinking of this stuff now. I could use some suggestions,so Why did you pick your saint’s name?
 
I picked St. Francis of Assisi because I love animals. It may have been a weak reason, but he is not a bad guy to have watching over you at all, so I am happy with it.

I’m so happy to hear about another soon to be confirmed Catholic and will pray for you. This is a great thing!

I chose “Sixtus”. I wanted something that wasn’t too everyday sounding (e.g. John), but not too exotic. I knew Sixtus from the Roman Canon and that he was an early martyr. It’s also easy to remember how many popes were named Sixtus, five, which means that the next Pope Sixtus will be Sixtus the Sixth. 🙂
 
I chose St. Caroline because that was my favorite aunt’s name. St, Caroline is the patron saint of assault/rape victims, which was actually comforting as my aunt was murdered 8 months before I was confirmed.
 
Just a question that is somewhat on topic: can women choose Mary as their confirmation name?
 
I chose Saint Francis of Assisi due to his humility, poverty, and great charity, with such true configuration with Our Lord Jesus hat he received the miraculous stigmata.

I picked James, simply because nobody else in our group did.

The Greater, not the Lesser.

I chose Nina Christiana, after two of St. Nina’s names. She is a saint from Iberia that was known for having efficacious prayer for healing and for bringing people to conversion. I love those two graces, and would love for my prayers to have a similar effect for people.
 
St. Albert the Great; Universal Doctor of the Church

There’s a long story behind my choice - I’ll spare you the details, it would fill this post and another ten!
First - It was by the hand of the Holy Spirit that I found this saint’s name (once again I’ll spare the details)
He was the teacher of St. Thomas Aquinas and of St. Bonaventure - both important saints in my parish (Bonaventure our Patron). The final straw, St. Albert’s command of the Scientific Method (laying its framework) and applying that to the rational sciences to show harmony between the science of the rational world and our Catholic faith - which for me, as a Chemist, was a epiphany - the two are one - what is true in one is true in the other (a very great over simplification to be sure).

yes. The Hispanic girls regularly choose Our Lady of Sorrows, Our Lady of Guadalupe,
etc.
For other Mary’s: Also, Mary of Egypt and Mary Magdalene. 🙂
 
David because of the story that he slain the mighty giant Goliath with a slingshot. Just because as a 10 yr old kid it was a story I found appealing. At that age really no other deeper reason than that.
 
None, it was not something that was done where I grew up. In fact, I think I was in my mid 40s, had served as my goddaughter’s Confirmation sponsor, had had two siblings confirmed and two kids confirmed before I heard of this practice.
 
None—this isn’t done where I was born, or at least wasn’t done there at the time of my birth. I supposed things might have changed since then (we moved to a different country when I was still an infant and I’ve never been back).

Besides, I was confirmed when I was two months old. Didn’t have much of a say in anything at that age 👋
 
I chose Peter. I felt that if I was getting confirmed and thus proclaiming to be an adult Catholic, then I should choose he name of a saint who was known for upholding and teaching the faith to the world.
 
Saint Michael, because he is an Archangel and way cool beyond any comic book superheroes.
 
Mark, for the evangelist and for a good friend with the same name (whose mom suggested my middle name to my mom before I was born).
 
John Paul, after (then) Bl. John Paul II.

I love him. 🙂 I’m a convert, but he was the “face” of Catholicism for me as I was growing up. He was a living saint, and a mystic and a poet and a philosopher. He was also Polish, as are both of my parents.
 
Augustine. I felt a kinship with his wayward youth, I love him and his writing.
