What other religion(s) do you have in your family?

I have 6 siblings, and three are fallen away Catholics. Of those that remained practicing, there are 14 nieces and nephews. Six are married and all but one married a Catholic. One nephew married a Protestant, and they now attend an Evangelical Church. They are very good people and are very involved in their church with music.

Of the fallen away 3, one is athiest and the other two are married to difficult people that have no organized religion. One couple is into nature and the other couple is into being good people, but don’t want to worship at a church, and definitely not a Catholic church. This particular couple though never says a bad thing about religion or the Catholic Church.

I am praying that my children marry Catholics so that they can share their faith and bring any kids up Catholic.

Another little friendly neighborhood anti-Catholic snipe, just what I need to be affirmed with in my Catholic faith. Of course anyone would be hard pressed to conclusively prove the Pope said anything that went against God’s Word.

My whole family on my father’s side is Baptist, except for me & one aunt who is Lutheran.
My mother’s side of the family is a mixture of mostly Methodists, with a few Baptists.
Basically, my aunt & I are considered to be in some kind of :confused: “rebellion” against :rolleyes: “proper” baptism…I have finally figured out that it is best to leave this particular subject alone…
 
My mother was hindu, and my sister and I still have hindu names, though we do have baptismal ones as well only we never use them due to my mothers preferences. I had a time when I claimed to be hindu and travelled really far away from the CC, but now I am back, thank God!
 
Atheism and Agnosticism are of course no religions, but anyway…

My wife’s family is Catholic, my own consists of luke-warm protestants and “I don’t cares”, perhaps the latter can be called practising agnostics. We have relatives on the Philippines, so there is a 5% chance of Muslims and 3% chance of Buddhists being in my family, I am not sure.

I am curious, how did you come to the grouping?
I understand, Wicca is a subset of Neopaganism, but has nothing to do with New Age and even less with Satanism.
As Buddhism has been derived from Hinduism, I can understand to group them, but what do Muslims do in that category? Last time I checked Hindus and Muslims were bitter enemies. (Well, Muslims are the enemies of pretty much everyone else right now, I guess.)
 
Plenty, as you can see I checked most of your categories. We are predominantly Protestant and no-longer-Protestant, though several no-longer-Catholics-and-now-we-hate-them have married into the family. Religion of necessity keeps a low profile at any family get-together.
 
We are all devout Catholics in the family except for Dad. His siblings are Seventh Day Adventists and Protestants. Dad rarely attends Mass and I doubt if he has had the Sacrament of Confirmation and Baptism; all I know is that my mom and dad were wed the Catholic way. So what does that make my Dad?
 
Mother’s parents: Congregational.

Mother: Unitarian/agnostic

Father: don’t know; his second family seems to be Episcopalian.

Father’s father: alcoholic

Sister, 2 of her daughters and their husbands: Jehovah’s witnesses

Other niece: “Name it and claim it” Christian

Nephew: agnostic

Brother-in-law (and family): lay pastor of a small group “Cowboy Church.” Generic Protestant.

Mother in law: lapsed Catholic.

Hubby: cradle Catholic, recently returned

Me: convert from generic Protestant. We start RCIA this fall.

I tell DBIL, and my friends on a largely fundamentalist Bible study board, “Watch out what you pray for!”

We were all praying for my hubby to become a Christian; and one prayer warrior on the board was praying that I find the right church!

DBIL is just glad that Ray’s now a Christian, but my fundamentalist buddies are a little shocked at my “choice.” (As if there was one! Home is home!)

My Dad’s side is Catholic. My mom’s side is Lutheran. We (my siblings and I ) were all raised Catholic but my brother and sister, as well as my Dad, seem to have fallen away from the church, sadly…

My mom still attends her Lutheran church and is active there.

My husband’s family is mostly Methodist, though they don’t go to church really and most of them haven’t been baptized, but when they did go to church, they went there. I think some of his family may be Lutheran as well.
 
Most of my family are batists some are pentacostals others CMA.

Because religion does not save us or make us ready for heaven Iam not of a religion. When we are saved and washed by HIS blood and that is what will save our souls. HE shed HIS blood to save us . The bible says that “without the shedding of blood there is NO remission of sins.” None of us can get to heaven until the sin question is dealt with and that is WHY JESUS came down and suffered for us and shed HIS blood. ONLY HIS blood will make you clean for heaven.

Thank God for sending JESUS to complete us by shedding HIS blood to take away sin. The Bible says that we are “complete IN HIM” when we are saved.

I guess the question on this thread could be altered to ask, what group do you worship with, or where do you go on the Lord’s Day to pray? (or rather, where do your relatives go).

The apostles in the bible gathered in groups, went to the temple to pray, broke bread together, stuff like that. I think the thread is asking about group affiliation or categories, not false external religion practices like standing up in the temple and appearing all pious when really being full of rot inside. The thread is not about whitewashed tombs, I don’t think. (mat 23:27)
 
My mom’s family is huge, so I have a lot of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Most of us are devout Catholics. One uncle I never see and I don’t know what he is (if anything). One of my aunts fell away because of one of her boyfriends in her youth. She is now non-denominational and is rasing my cousins as such. Another one of my aunts was questioning the Cathoilc faith for a while and still has a little trouble, but because of that both of her daughters have fallen away from Catholicism. Still another person, my uncle, is a scientologist (I think). Anyway, most of us are Catholic (like I said before) and we plan on continuing to bear witness to the truth and hopefully bring those who have fallen away back to the Church.
 
I forgot to tell you about my dad’s side. His parents were several things, one of which was seventh-day adventist. They eventually fell away from going to church from what I understand, but still continued to be two of the greatest people that I ever knew. My dad’s brother eventually found the Baptist church. One of my aunts doesn’t go to church very often (if at all), but the other is an extremely devout Christian. My dad searched for a while until he became friends with my now-non-denominational aunt. He saw how wonderful my mom’s family was and eventually dated and fell in love with my mom. Several years into his relationship with my mom, he decided to convert to Catholicism. Now he is a great man who has raised all five of us (his kids) with my incredible mom. All seven of us in my immediate family are devout Catholics and are so very happy.
