What parts of the USA are predomintly Catholic

I would imagine New York, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco would be due to Irish, Italian, Polish, Latin American and Southern German immigration but what other parts?:bible1:

I think the only state that is truly PREDOMINANTLY Catholic is Rhode Island. I know of no significant city other than perhaps San Antonio that might be.

But there are concentrations in all sorts of places, while not predominating (in terms of majority) are highly noticeable. In my state, that would be St. Louis, first and foremost, then some German communities along the Mo and Mississippi Rivers and a little ethnic town here and there. Otherwise, nowhere at all in Mo., and definitely not in the southern part.
 
Something interesting I found out a long time ago. Of all of the service academies, the Air Force Academy has the highest percentage of Catholics–higher than that of the population at large. It’s significantly less so at West Point and much, much less so at Annapolis.

One has to wonder just a bit why that is. Possibly, since the Air Force Academy is the newest, with the shortest “tradition of attendance” within families, and fewer “legacy” nominees, Catholics, who are later into the educated classes than those of other religions, are perhaps more likely to be admitted to the AF Academy than to the others.
 
Um, South Louisiana is not properly shown in the map. It’s Catholic, heavily Catholic.

And it looks like the upper Midwest is a good place to start proselytizing, why are there Methodists? I don’t even know what they do…

That is interesting, especially in light of the influence of evangelicals at the Air Force Academy reported a few years back.

Perhaps their “work space” is located in a closer physical proximity to God:D

In about six years the Catholic Church will be the largest Church in the 13 metro counties of Atlanta, Georgia.

You’d never know Northern Virginia wasn’t predominantly Catholic looking at those maps. But then again, one was dated 2000.
 
Any county in the USA that is predominantly Hispanic will usually also be predominantly Catholic.

Certain counties in Texas, New Mexico and California, especially ones near the border with Mexico, are over 90% Hispanic.

Puerto Rico is part of the USA, and is, I think, predominantly Catholic.
 
Now it would be VERY interesting to break this down even further as to what percentages are Liberal, Conservative, or Traditional,(etc. etc.) “Catholic”.

Indeed it is. In fact, our priest who is from Pittsburgh said that he thinks that South Louisiana may be the most devout Catholic area in the country.

After all, what other state has parishes instead of counties? 🙂

They actually have a Rosary said every morning at about 5am in Cajun French which is on the radio out of Lafayette, Louisiana.👍 In New Orleans three of the major holidays are Mardi Gras, whic ends at midnight on Ash Wednesday and is a pre lenten festival, St. Patricks day and St Josephs day which is a wonderful holiday to experience. If you are ever there rty to find a house that has a St Josephs Altar advertised. You will absolutely love it. Guaranteed.
