I`m wondering what are some of the short prayers that i see alot of folks silently reciteing before leaving church after mass.

There arent that many specific prayers I pray after mass. I pretty much pray a thanksgiving for everything I have received and sometimes I will pray for those who have asked for my prayers or for those in purgatory. Thats about all. Based on my what I’m going through I will sometime ask for Mary’s or other saint’s intercession.

Matt

I ask for help to get me through the next week. I don’t use formal prayers, it is more just a heart to heart talk with Jesus.

There seems to be some standard out there.I see it all the time on EWTN but i can`t make out the prayers. Ithink the ANIMA CHRISTI would fit there nicely.

we have been reciting a decade of the rosary for the Pope’s intention since the year of the Rosary a couple of years ago. about half the people stay. I would like to stay and pray LOTH but we need to clear out for the next Mass.

Prayer to St Micheal, Prayer of thanksgiving, Consecration to the Blessed Virgin, prayer for the Holy Souls in Purgatory, and of course … Jesus I Trust in You !:gopray:

In His Peace …

On EWTN the St. Michael the Archangel prayer is said. It is my understanding that praying that prayer after Mass used to be the norm. I wish that would make a “comeback” as everyone seems to be in a hurry to leave. In my old Parish, the Priest was lucky to beat the congregation to the door!:nope:

We say it in our parish! We also say a Rosary before.
As our very Pious Pastor says, “A Decade a Day keeps the Devil away!”

For those who don’t know the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

“St. Michael the Archangel
Defend us in Battle
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray
And You, Oh Prince of the Heavenly Host
Cast into Hell, Satan and the evil spirits
Who prowl about the world, seeking the ruin of souls. Amen”

Say it everyday and often. It keeps our church safe.

I silently recite the old “Leonine Prayers” from an old pocket missal-- the Last Gospel, 3 Ave Marias, Salve Regina, “O God, our refuge and our strength…,” and the above mentioned St. Michael prayer, followed by “Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.” (3x)

AWESOME! I have no complaints about my Church, it’s pretty Orthodox, but I wish we would say the St. Michael prayer!:yup:

Well I say the Angel’s Prayer (revealed at Fatima) x 3. (x3 in honour of the Blessed Trinity) Helps me to remember to offer my Holy Communion in reparation for my sins and the sins of the world.

I then say the Anima Christi and finish with the Divine Praises.

In between these I aspire to say little ejaculations like “Jesus I Trust inYou” or “Heart of Jesus burning with love for me, enflame my heart with love for thee” etc

In this the year of the Eucharist I would encourage all to add the Divine Praises to their list!

I’m not sure about after the final blessing, but I always pray the Amani Christi (sp?) after Communion - it’s usually on the back of the missal:
Soul of Christ, sanctify me
Body of Christ, save me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me
Water from the side of Christ, wash me
Passion of Christ, strengthen me
O good Jesus, hear me
Within thy wounds hide me
Permit me not to be separated from thee
From the wicked foe defend me
At the hour of my death call me
And bid me come to thee
That with thy saints I may praise thee
For ever and ever. Amen.

Thomas Aquinas’ Adoro Te Devote (which gives a 100-day indulgence):
O Godhead hid, devoutly I adore Thee,
Who truly art within the forms before me;
To Thee my heart I bow with bended knee,
As failing quite in contemplating Thee.
Sight, touch, and taste in Thee are each deceived;
The ear alone most safely is believed:
I believe all the Son of God has spoken,
Than Truth’s own word there is no truer token.
God only on the Cross lay hid from view;
But here lies hid at once the Manhood too:
And I, in both professing my belief,
Make the same prayer as the repentant thief.
Thy wounds, as Thomas saw, I do not see;
Yet Thee confess my Lord and God to be:
Make me believe Thee ever more and more;
In Thee my hope, in Thee my love to store.
O thou Memorial of our Lord’s own dying!
O Bread that living art and vivifying!
Make ever Thou my soul on Thee to live;
Ever a taste of Heavenly sweetness give.
O loving Pelican! O Jesu, Lord!
Unclean I am, but cleanse me in Thy Blood;
Of which a single drop, for sinners spilt,
Is ransom for a world’s entire guilt.
Jesu! Whom for the present veil’d I see,
What I so thirst for, O vouchsafe to me:
That I may see Thy countenance unfolding,
And may be blest Thy glory in beholding. Amen.

Seems like a perfect time to start!
A good “Deep Catholic” parish is a jewel to be treasured. Those churches are being bombarded by all sides.
I believe that this prayer has protected our very conservative parish in the vast wasteland of modernism around us.

I’m sure your Pastor would be open, but you might have to lead the prayer! Are you up to public speaking?

:bigyikes: !!! I’ll have to think about this one! You’re right, sometimes if you want something done you have to do it yourself!

Does anyone know the patron saint of public speaking??😃

Our priest after mass has been saying the Regina Coeli Prayer
Regina Coeli (Caeli)

O, queen of heaven, rejoice! Alleluia.
For He whom thou didst merit to bear, Alleluia,
Hath arisen as He said, Alleluia.
Pray for us to God, Alleluia.
Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary. Alleluia.
For the Lord hath risen indeed. Alleluia.
Oremus (Let us pray)
O God, who, through the Resurrection of Thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ,
Didst vouchsafe to fill the world with joy;
grant, we beseech Thee, that, through His Virgin Mother, Mary,
We may lay hold on the joys of everlasting life.
Through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen.

To be said instead of the Angelus during the Easter Season

I could be wrong but i think the patron of public relations is SAINT PAUL ,that may be close enough?
