What impressed me most when we were dating is how well he treated even those he had no reason to impress: wait staff, strangers, whoever. A person trying to impress you will be good to you, but a person who is genuinely kind will be kind to those he has no reason to think you care about. He is good-hearted and has a good sense of humor, and is very sensible. I figured that every married person has to give in to what their spouse wants from time to time, so Iād not want to give the deciding vote to someone whose judgment I didnāt respect when we didnāt agree.
As for looks, those are fine but you have to be ready for them to go:
āFor these fellows of infinite tongue that can rhyme themselves into ladiesā favors, they do always reason themselves out again. What! A speaker is but a prater; a rhyme is but a ballad. A good leg will fall, a straight back will stoop, a black beard will turn white, a curled pate will grow bald, a fair face will wither, a full eye will wax hollow; but a good heart, Kate, is the sun and the moon; or rather, the sun, and not the moon, for it shines bright and never changes, but keeps his course truly.ā Henry V, Act 5, Scene 2
