ok, im doing an essay on the re-unification of the chrisitian church and i am doing interviews with a catholic priest, church of ireland minister and a presbryterian minister,

anyone want to recommend questions for me to ask!

at the minute im going with the old pope, mary, praying for the dead, etc

anyone got a real good one to put to these chruch members that will really stick them?

Ask the Church of Ireland and Presbyterian ministers where they got their saints.
 
Wouldnt you want to ask them all how they are going to promote loving your neighbour?

Why no questions to the Catholic priests?
Please ask the same questions to the priests or any other person of various denominations, for comparison.

Don’t expect much if you’re going into it with that attitude. You’re (hopefully) trying to learn from them, not to alienate them in the name of self-satisfaction. They’re just as much spiritual leaders and shepherds as your priest is, even if they aren’t by your lights validly ordained – so have a little respect.

Ask the CoI and Presbyterian ministers why their churches went their separate ways. Ask whether and why those issues and grievances are still relevant. Find out what the various differences in doctrine among the three are, and ask if they have any ideas on the possibility of resolving them.
 
i think a good question for all three would be:

if there ever is to be a re-unification of the Christian church, what would it look like?

i think you should try to include and eastern orthodox priest in this discussion seeing as they are Christians as well… unless you are only interested in the re-unification of the western church.

I think it is a good suggestion. I won’t say that anyone needs to compromise, the right word would be sacrifice for the truth. Jesus taught that one should make sacrifice for truth. That is the message of Jesus’ tribulations and sufferings; all the three should (including also the Eastern Orthodox as requested by one of our friends) be united truthfully.

From the fact that he is speaking to a Church of Ireland minister I would guess Malachy is in Ireland, there aren’t very many Orthodox Christians in that part of the world.

then it is not a true study and he would just be doing it to either get a rise out of the people or push his own agenda. either one of those would be a wrong (and i believe immoral) way of approaching it. if it is a true study… find an orthodox priest somewhere (there is one somewhere… do a phone interview) or make clear that it is only the western re-unification he is interested in.
