What race will you be in your planet? Can a Mormon answer me this please?

I know the difference and i say the same thing about blacks without the priesthood. If people taught it related to their actual salvation then they were idiots and didn’t even understand their own principles they were following.

So basically, racism in the LDS church is the same as the Crusades. 2 principles that were practiced but no longer practiced. Too bad people keep bringing it up. Religious people are so dumb, it drives me insane.
Just war doctrine is still practiced. The Crusades, for the most part, were justified. Some of the actions, (sack of Constantinople, etc. ), not so much.

How was LDS racism justified? Because a “prophet” said so?

Are you daft, man? What is the LDS teaching about the celestial kingdom? What ordinances are required for it???

I think you may be the one who doesn’t understand the priciples of your faith, and am shocked to hear you say so of LDS Presidents past.

I’m saying they were idiots and i can’t believe your the one telling me the crusades was justified. Hint hint. Here it comes. Your such a defender of mass murdering, and the slaughtering of so many people. I’m going to start asking in the forums why Catholics are defending the crusades and all their murdering in the name of religion. Maybe i’ll start promoting the fact catholics think like islamic crazies

If brigham Young or some of the other LDS leaders were denying blacks the opportunities to be sealed or receive endowment then the guy was an idiot and didn’t even know his own principles he was following.

I said the Crusades, in concept, were just. Unless, of course, you’re a fan of Shar’ia or Islamic expansion.

If you remember correctly, places like Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, North Africa, etc, etc, etc, were the cradles of early Christianity.

Again, you’re propping up this strawman because you can’t defend the indefensible.

Go ahead now, tell us that banning blacks from the priesthood was “good” or “just”.

Do you know how many black Popes there have been? 🙂

Uhhhh…

in which temples is the priesthood not a prerequisite for LDS endowment, sealings, marriage…etc???

Methinks you understand your own faith…little.

In principle they thought it was just, but in reality it didn’t work out very well, did it. That’s usually what happens in life. Or maybe it was a principle they shouldn’t have followed at all.

Crusades were never a principle.

Like the LDS priesthood?

Perhaps you can point out the similarities in the shortcomings of a historical opposition to military expansionism…

and “revealation” to racist doctrine?

It was a principle. They wanted to recover the land of Jerusalum for themselves and along the way convert everyone to their religion. That principle has effects, you can say it was just if you want. That just means the blacks in the priesthood was just too. Well, reality, neither was just at all.

"The attitude of the Church with reference to Negroes remains as it has always stood. It is not a matter of the declaration of a policy but of direct commandment from the Lord, on which is founded the doctrine of the Church from the days of its organization, to the effect that Negroes may become members of the Church but that they are not entitled to the priesthood at the present time. The prophets of the Lord have made several statements as to the operation of the principle. President Brigham Young said: ‘Why are so many of the inhabitants of the earth cursed with a skin of blackness? It comes in consequence of their fathers rejecting the power of the holy priesthood, and the law of God. They will go down to death. And when all the rest of the children have received their blessings in the holy priesthood, then that curse will be removed from the seed of Cain, and they will then come up and possess the priesthood, and receive all the blessings which we now are entitled to’…

The First Presidency Statement on the Negro Question, August 17, 1949

Why would G*d’s representivies be allowed to make racist comments and promote racism inside and outside the church? Why would racist teachings and doctrine be put in LDS scriptures and said in official LDS statements?

Is this guided by “revealation”?

Scorpio, stop trashing my religion. Huh, your just throwing trash out there you crusader spreader. Maybe you should go to iraq and become an extremist. You’ll easily convert since your saying its justified.

Like i said Brigham Young was an idiot

Again, if you can dodge a wrench you can dodge an issue.

If you’d like to start your own Crusades thread, I’m game, and trust me, I’m coming to the competition a little better armed than you.

Untill then, try to focus on the priesthood ban.

Again, I ask you: which LDS temples have you been to that are performing endowments, sealings, and marriages (or even a temple recommend, for that matter)

to non-holders of the LDS Mel priesthood?

Strawman. Start your own Crusades thread, I’d be happy to address the question.

Again…

to non-holders of the LDS Mel priesthood???

“…The position of the Church regarding the Negro may be understood when another doctrine of the Church is kept in mind, namely, that **the conduct of spirits in the premortal existence has some determining effect upon the conditions and circumstances under which these spirits take on mortality **and that while the details of this principle have not been made known, the mortality is a privilege that is given to those who maintain their first estate; and that the worth of the privilege is so great that spirits are willing to come to earth and take on bodies no matter what the handicap may be as to the kind of bodies they are to secure; and that among the handicaps, failure of the right to enjoy in mortality the blessings of the priesthood is a handicap which spirits are willing to assume in order that they might come to earth. Under this principle there is no injustice whatsoever involved in this deprivation as to the holding of the priesthood by the Negroes.”…

The First Presidency Statement on the Negro Question, August 17, 1949

Ah, yes, black skin due to the “unvaliant” preexistence…

It was revealation, at least according to the LDS first presidency…

"Our living prophet, President David O. McKay, has said, "The seeming discrimination by the Church toward the Negro is not something which originated with man; but goes back into the beginning with God…

“Revelation assures us that this plan antedates man’s mortal existence, extending back to man’s pre-existent state.”

President McKay has also said, “Sometime in God’s eternal plan, the Negro will be given the right to hold the priesthood.”

Until God reveals His will in this matter, to him whom we sustain as a prophet, we are bound by that same will. Priesthood, when it is conferred on any man comes as a blessing from God, not of men."

Ouch!

My debate still stands. It has the same relavence of at the Crusades and i think i proved my point by now. Scorpio still has issues with it but that what happens when you talk to a guy who is an idiot.

Why are you resulting to name calling?

Again, the Crusades weren’t part of “doctrine”, weren’t “revealation”, and that is an absurd comparison.

I’ll ask you yet again…

"Which LDS temples have you been to that are performing endowments, sealings, and marriages (or even a temple recommend, for that matter)…

to non-holders of the LDS Mel priesthood???"

If you would rather name call than answer the question, let me know in advance, and I’ll stay away from this thread.

Thanks.

Well, if you actually read your own question instead of pooping out the only mindless thing you can think of, you would have realised the so called “LDS church” already solved that problem giving everyone the Melchezadick Priesthood. So are you going to turn that into an issue too? Why they give everyone the Priesthood before they go through the temple?
