If they do ordain people to the priesthood than its just for them to have, its not a saving ordinance and not a requirement.

I don’t remember ordaining people to the priesthood though in the temple. I remember doing all the other stuff though. Its been long time though so maybe i missed something.

How do Mormons reconcile the Aaronic priesthood when Lehi was a descendant of Joseph?

Stop it. You’re not making sense, or follwing any type of LDS doctrine.

Let me break it down for you:

Temple Endowment and marriage are required for exaltation and entrance into the Celestial Kingdom.

Ordination to the Aaronic and Melchizedek priesthoods is neccessary for Endowment.

Endowment is required for temple sealings (marriages, and so forth)

Blacks, prior to 1978 were denied ordination to the Aaronic and Melchizedek priesthoods.

Blacks, prior to 1978, could not take part in a Temple Endowment or Sealing because they did not hold the Aaronic and Melchizedek priesthoods.

Blacks, prior to 1978, could not attain exaltation, or entrance into the Celestial Kingdom.
Scipio is right about this, falisrm. On the other hand, he is ignoring the LDS doctrine of salvation for the dead. For instance, most LDS leaders who taught this also maintained that blacks would receive the priesthood in the Resurrection.
Cain slew his brother… and the Lord put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin… …How long is that race to endure the dreadful curse that is upon them? That curse will remain upon them, and they never can hold the Priesthood or share in it until all the other descendants of Adam have received the promises and enjoyed the blessings of the Priesthood and the keys thereof. Until the last ones of the residue of Adam’s children are brought up to that favourable position, the children of Cain cannot receive the first ordinances of the Priesthood.” *(Journal of Discourses, *Vol.7, pp. 290-291)
When all the other children of Adam have had the privilege of receiving the Priesthood, and of coming into the kingdom of God, and of being redeemed from the four quarters of the earth, and have received their resurrection from the dead, then it will be time enough to remove the curse from Cain and his posterity… he is the last to share the joys of the kingdom of God.” (Ibid., Vol. 2, page 143)
So in the end, Scipio really is wrong.

We believe that the prophets sporadically held the Melchizedek priesthood, which includes the lesser priesthood.
Sporadically?

It’s ok, I don’t expect a logical answer. I hope in all our discussions I have planted a few seeds. I feel I’ve honed my skills enough to anticipate Mormon missionaries knocking on my door.😉

technically, you can get your endowments out before you receive the priesthood. it’s just a matter of telling everyone you don’t want the priesthood and you just want your endowments later in life. There’s just not much you can do without the priesthood.

Logic? your actually expecting logic in religion? prodicalson, there is no logic in religion. I thought catholics would be the first to know that.

So basically, weren’t you catholics going off on some tangent that had nothing to do with relavence or facts. spiritually speaking. You were just trying to further your agenda and misunderstanding of the whole topic. Next time, listen to the words you say. You might actually teach yourself something.

You are one confused hombre.

See what mormonism does to you? I’ll tell you what I just told Zerinus. Why don’'t you wake up and go to mass? :getholy: You might find out that reason and religion work together just fine.

What a great idea!

Flisrm I really do not know why have to be so upset and act as if you are 5 years old at times.
Is it that you do not like the answers they give?
I was really curious as to what my friend was refering to and I think I got my answer. I got the “milk” from the LDS here and the “meat” from searching and asking those who were willing to answer. Even if most are ex mormons.
You may not like what is said but that is the truth. Your truth has to be objective and you don’t want to treat it that way.

You are arguing and digging yourself deeper into a hole. So you turn to calling people idiots and such.

I don’t think anything has to be done to further our agenda, and in fact our agenda is out in the open, as you might remember you are in a catholic forum. It is all out for the taking!!!

Spiritually speaking I think you are treading dangerous waters by following idiots such as BY. Isn’t he revered as a great prophet, you have a university named after him. So I wonder what exactly you mean when you say we go off on tangents.

Ain’t that the truth. 😃

Why is it that Mormons just get scatterbrained when discussing their own religion?I have the same issue when talking to them. I really do think they have trouble keeping up with their own lies that they just fall apart:shrug:. What have we learned about Mormons?
  1. Its Mormon Prophets have been racist throughout history.
  2. The BoM holds no truths historically or archaeologically.
  3. Mormon Prophets can change their doctrines to fit the needs of their church, hence they must be false.
  4. Founded in the time of the Great Awakening with other churches claiming to be the Real Church of Christ.
As far as logic goes Falisrm, look up the word and you will see that Mormonism falls short of it.🤷

And as far as agenda goes falisrm, let’s look at the Mormon agenda…to distort Christianity and replace truth with that distortion, one convert at a time.

I don’t think falisrm can respond while their account is under review, I’m not sure.

Whaaaa??? I don’t know what religion you are talking about here, but it is not Mormonism. BDawg or some other current LDS, please straighten this guy out.

“In the end”. Literally, I guess, huh? I think that policy is even worse…

“You can’t gets into da Celestial Kingdom until those righteous white folk make it in first!”

Were proxy ordinances performed before 1978 for black people? The answer is No. Prior to 1978, they couldn’t attain the “celestial kingdom”, period. A “white and delightsome” person, being so valiant in the pre-existence, even if they were non-LDS, could attain exaltation through the proxy ordinances (provided you accepted them in death).

If you were black, even if you were a faithful LDS, you were S.O.L.

This was part of LDS "ongoing"revelation. Indefensible.

And you are absolutely incapable of seeing how this relates to the criticisms of the LDS Church?
LOL!! I can contrast it with the LDS claim that the foundation of Mormonism is in pre-Columbian Native American history. LDS comes abysmally short on that claim. Joseph Smith was white. His “disciples” were white. Excellent line of criticism, I must say!!

So mormon prophets were racists. If you want to compare, Popes have ten’s of thousands of lives on their hands in the name of their god. I would rather deny someone the priesthood than murder someone because they couldn’t convert.
