Started out Southern Baptist only till about age 7. Then nothing till about age 13. Then off and on Pentecostal. Joined the Navy at 17 as a “no religous preferrence”.Became a Seventh Day Adventist at 27. Searching from 29 until 37. Then converted to the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church at 38. I’m now 44 and plan on a Catholic funeral.

Maybe this statement is supposed to make that point that religion does nothing for us and only a “personal relationship” does. It’s a favorite topic among some fundy preachers “We don’t NEED religion!!” they shout. “We don’t NEED any man made rules to get to heaven!!! We can have RELIGION without having JEEEESUS! If you don’t KNOW Jesus, you can have all the RELIGION you want and still GO TO HELL”

and so on

Me too. Baptized at two weeks. Thank you
Never found a reason to walk away from Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, never will. (I don’t care how good the music is down the street, how great they make one another feel when they walk in or how many verses in the Bible they can quote.)

devout Southern Baptist for 35 years and never desired to change…but, the Holy Spirit “opened my eyes and my heart” and now I’m Roman Catholic! I thank the Lord for bringing me home!!Lisa

Raised as Methodist, but more the showey, fakey, ‘what you look like you are’ kind. For me, it was forced, empty and shallow. When I didn’t have to go to church, anymore, I didn’t darken the doorway of a church for years.

Then I found THE Church, and never turned back.

Turns out, I might’ve made it to Heaven, allright, but I was getting there in the 1975 Chevette. Now I’m getting there in a Ferrari.http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon12.gif

I am being raised Roman Catholic. I truly pity the person raised New Age.

I was Baptized Catholic. My mom left the Church after her and my father divorced (he wasn’t Catholic) - she then converted to Assembly of God and that’s how me and my two sisters were raised. This past Easter I received my first communion/was confirmed in the Church. Since my confirmation my mom has actually came back as well. We are both so very happy and my father is happy for us!

I was raised Catholic. My parents followed some Buddhist ceremonies but were not Buddhists. Their moral code was quite interesting when you think about it. They have no concept of a superior being, but have a keen sense of duty, honor, and responsibility especially to family and elders.

They believed in an afterlife, and made offerings to deceased ancestors. They believed the dead have some influence over the living in terms of good fortune or bad fortune. In this sense they were somewhat superstitious. They believed in treating everyone with respect and honesty. It is quiet similar to the golden rule but not stated as such.

They never embraced Christianity but managed to have 4 of their 7 children raised Catholic. They even made sure we attended mass every Sunday (at least while we were kids). I feel some regret that I was never able to convince them to become Catholic. I hope, pray, and believe God accepts them anyway. They were wonderful parents and I miss them dearly.

I truly pity anyone raised Satanist, or in a hate filled home such as a racist or bigot of any sort.

Athiest…and the only one to have escaped thus far 😦
Well I am your sister in Christ anyway even if not a family member. I was raised atheist by parents who were not only non-believers but incredibly hostile to anything religious (including my wonderful grandmother who was kept away from me as much as possible).

I told Father that I moved up the theological ladder attending a Unitarian church (acceptable to my parents as they never do that God talk stuff) then finding it to be nothing more than a social club albeit with many nice people moved to Methodism since I appreciated their service to the poor. As time went on I realized the Methodist faith had also been watered down to the point poor John Wesley must be spinning in his grave.

Converted and came home Easter 2005. This is where I belong and I’m just sorry I was kept away by false information for so many years

Born into a Catholic family, Baptized at 6 weeks old, Confirmed at 13. Left the Church in my twenties to pursue an immoral lifestyle. Developed alcoholism. Got sober at 36. Returned to Jesus during my first two years, crept closer to the Holy Mother Church and then finally came home at 8 years sober. Now, at 13 years sober, I am a happy, sober member of a 12-Step group and practicing Roman Catholic. I practice every day - because I am not perfect and have to keep practicing!

😉

Raised Roman Catholic and my fiancee was raised LDS. She’s going to be attending RCIA classes in the fall and will be accepted into the Church at Easter.
