Oil, altars, water, books, candles, pictures, images, etc…What items does your Pastor “allow” you to use in worship (oil, altars, water, books, candles, pictures, images, etc…)?

none of those are used as corporate worship items. especially in Jesus’ day, so i stand by my statement that Jesus did not use images in worship.
Not only that, but the Law regarding images is very specific. With respect to images the Catechism of the Catholic Church confirms that under the Old Testament that images of God could not be made. It indicates that with the incarnation God introduced a new economy of images.
However I see absolutlely no indication in the New Testament of this. With respect to Jesus I am extremely leary of any image being used. We have no idea what Jesus actually looked like while on earth and certainly nothing that shows what He looks like in Heaven. I feel using images of Jesus can fix a conception of what Jesus did look like in our mind. Such a conception would be wrong since we do not know what He looked like. No image from His life on earth is preserved and I think there is a reason for that.
Hi EA,Oil, altars, water, books, candles, pictures, images, etc…
The number of sacraments we share would be sevenHi EA,
I was reading about the number of sacraments that we share. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.
I think it’s beautiful when a Christian acknowledges and takes advantages of the physical gifts that God has given us…for example; The Holy Eucharist!
“Oil, altars, water, books, candles, pictures, images, etc…” all things God used in The Holy Bible.

meaning those images were not used in jewish worship. they didn’t touch the statues to remind themselves of anything. they didn’t use images in worship. the images on the ark were only viewed by the high priest once a year (except when being moved, then, it wasn’t the images that were used it was actually the power of God coming forth from the ark) and the ark wasn’t even around at the time of Jesus. What do you mean by “corporate worship items”?![]()
those images were not in the area where worship took place. And Jesus never defended The Temple with it’s images of angels in it and exclude the images of the angels. Since He didn’t exclude them from His Father’s House and since He stated that not one letter of The Law was done away with, then it must have been in effect during His time (and today as well).
yes, judaismDo you have any evidence to support your theory that Jesus Christ “didn’t” use images in worship?
LOL. ummmmm, Jesus was not a jewish priest. he was not a levite. he did not perform the sacrifices at the temple. He was a practicing Jewish Priest after all.
I have a rosary ring that I sometimes use as a bottle opener or a paint can opener. Is it still a sacramental?Anything used for worship that is not used for anything else (e.g. secular uses) is considered a sacramental.
1 would’ve been great…7 is stupendous! The number of sacraments we share would be seven
