What saint am I?

For my confirmation class I have to write an essay on a saint I chose. I need your help in deciding which one due to the overwhelming amount of saints.

Here are some things about me
-I’m young, 15 years old
-I like music and in band I play guitar drums.
-Caring
-Friendly
-Honest
-Intelligent
-Funny
-Fun to be around with.
-I like talking to people
-I’m persistent with what I do. IE: I don’t quit when stuff gets a little challenging.
-I’m a technology geek.
-Jesus, his apostles, and anyone supporting the truth are my role models.
-I’m highly religious.
-Shy when I want to be, but usually outgoing.

That’s all I have for now if I can think of any more I’ll put them here.
 
i would say, since your fifteen, and love to do, well, teenage stuff, i would suggest St.Dominic Savio, google him (make sure its a reliable Catholic source)
 
When I made my Confirmation, we were advised not to pick a saint because that saint represented who were were, but to pick a saint who had qualities we wanted to emmulate.

I have many strengths, but at the time, I was severely lacking in a sense of humor. I was even called “thin skinned.” I searched for a saint who could help me to be a happier, less sensitive person. I chose St. Christine of Belgium, and I believe her patronage has helped me.

My advice to you is to think about what you would like to be, and find a saint who can help you.
 
I picked St Ann, because that’s my middle name.

I want a do-over. 😦
 
I got confirmed just two little years ago. Ok, one and a half. But the relevant thing is this. I chose St. Clare of Asissi, because at that point in my life I was having a really hard time sticking up for myself, and St. Clare happens to have done a particularly good job of it. She has really inspired me to grow and to become a better person. She’s awesome. There are a lot of other really great saints out there. I started by just choosing a bunch with names I liked, then I read their bios. I think that’s a great place for you to start. Also, I would be happy to suggest some really great, inspirational saints who have really helped me along my path to sainthood.

As for me, my choice was not so mature.

I picked my Confirmation saint based on the friendliness of a girl who was on my cross country team in high school, and then chose the Spanish spelling of the name because I was studying Spanish and didn’t quite get into the warm-fuzzy sentimentality I noticed surrounding The Little Flower … so yeah, * drumroll please * … I went with St. Teresa of Avila, for all the wrong reasons. :rolleyes:

But apparently it ended up working out that I’d have a saint who both valued friendship and shared my weakness, i.e., a fondness for fantasy-type literature. St. Teresa in her younger days before devoting herself to God the way she should have was into the adventurously romantic tales of chivalrous knights, I was into the Star Wars Jedi knights.

I’ve read over what you posted and can’t seem to see if you state your gender. Of course, you do not HAVE to pick a saint of your gender, and some saints have names which could be “masculinized” or “feminized” as need be, but knowing your gender might help.

Now, I can’t tell you what saint to choose, but I would recommend, as others have said, choosing a saint who can help you achieve qualities you may not already posess.

When I was being confirmed, I just chose the saint who shared my name. At the time, it was an easy way to avoid choosing, but as I learned more I felt that the saint and I did “match” in more than just name, so he must have picked me before I picked him.

Since then I have developed devotions to other saints as well, so don’t worry that your Confirmation saint will be the one and only saint you get forever.

Based on the list you provided, here are some things to consider. You p(name removed by moderator)oint persistence as a virtue you have and would probably want to continue to develop, and you see the Apostles and upholders of truth as role models. I would look into the Apostles, as they certainly were persistent. This also makes me think of the martyrs (which includes all but one Apostle), who stood up for Truth to their last breath. Maybe you could look into the martyrs of the early Church or other times of persecution (i.e. the reformation). Also, there are those early saints called Confessors who suffered for the Truth through great hardship but were not martyrs. And many Doctors of the Church preached Truth in a profound and beautiful way.

So, if you look into the Apostles, Martyrs, Confessors, and Doctors, you may find a saint with whom you feel a real connection.

Don’t be afraid to ask a few to pray for you! Your patrons saint is out there and will surely let you know of their presence when asked!
 
How about instead of a saint like you, a saint who has lived through similar things you have? Have you noticed that a certain saint randomly pops into your life and it’s kind of strange? Like, I relate to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton because she converted and had a whole bunch of family issues! Even before I started thinking about being Catholic, St. Anthony had a strange sort of presence in my life (and not because I kept losing things!). I had a conversation with some people about how some saints kind of choose a person and stalk them. It was very interesting. If you want to pick a saint based off of your character traits, you’ll have to think more specifically and deeper than what you gave us. Think about your struggles and what you strive to be.

Or, you could just do a report on any of the saints whose bodies haven’t corrupted. I’m fascinated by them!
 
Also just some general thoughts about the saints.

I have found that even when I picked my patron saint for my confirmation, she isn’t the only one I turn to in time of general or specific needs.

I find the years have progressed I also ask for the intercession the the patron saint of my parish, the one I was confirmed in (James) our archdiocese (St Joseph), the patron saint of the parish I was baptized in as an infant,-- which was also the parish where most of my family, going back to great grandparents, received most of their sacraments --(St Augustine)

Etc.

So, even though you chose one for a confirmation name and patron, that doesnt mean you are limited only to them etc.
 
Try St. George. He’s very famous among the younger crowd. 🙂

I made my name Dymphna because she’s the saint of mental illness and I need her support. She was chaste and devoted to the church. Her father was a Pagan, Irish King. Her mother died and her father looked for someone most like his deceased wife to replace her. After he couldn’t find anyone, his advisers told him to marry his own daughter. So Dymphna ran away. When she was found, she still refused to marry him and was struck down. In that sense, she is also saint of victims of incest but I don’t need her for that.

But right now, I find the saint with the most importance to me is St. Michael. He helps me put on the armor of God. He’s the angel closest too and most like God. He helps slay the serpent, the devil. He helps keep demons away.

Also fond of St. Benedict, saint of the occult. He has a seal that’s meant to keep the devil away. It has many prayers on it but one says, “Evil are the things thou profferest, drink thou thy own poison.” He says this because he was almost poisoned by other monks. They poured him a drink with poison in it. As soon as he made the sign of the cross over it, it shattered into pieces. God saved him from death. I see his ways in our current Pope, very serious about order in the church.
