What saint said, “You seek devotion, Philothea, because you know, as a Christian, that this virtue is most pleasing to God”?
 
I could not find an exact source, but my guess is that this was St. Francis De Sales, whose book Introduction to the Devout Life was directed to a character he created named Philothea. (In sort of the same manner that Anne Frank’s diary was addressed to an imaginary friend named Kitty.) The name Philothea means “lover of God.”
