This is the second one’s views:
My view on this subject as a Christian is founded by the scriptures that simply say it is not to be done. A man is to leave his mother and father and become “one flesh” with the woman. I see that as an inseparable situation. That same scripture also implies that the two were married within Gods spiritual realm and the two people believe that God has brought this marriage to be. “What therefore God hath joined together.” Now question would be if they were not in that spiritual realm when the marriage took place what then? They are still bound to the law. Marriage was devised by God and therefore anything to do with it has Gods law attached already. You can’t reinvent your own law on marriage. God already done it.
As you can see in the scriptures below, that Jesus in no way condoned the divorce decree, EXCEPT for unfaithfulness.
I think that this is a pretty simple case here. The scripture say “no” no divorce.
1 Corinthians 7:10-11:
Code:
To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife.
Summation
Simply put, divorce is a no-no except for unfaithfulness or abandonment from Gods perspective. But remember, a man is to love his wife as Christ loved the church. If he doesn’t and becomes abusive, that is a whole new area to consider. I would say there comes a point when no one should have to tolerate another’s unwillingness to be the husband\wife has called them to be.
Mark 10
2 Some Pharisees came and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” 3 “What did Moses command you?” he replied.
4 They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away.”
5 “It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law,” Jesus replied.
6 “But at the beginning of creation God
made them male and female.' 7 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,
8 and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one.
9 Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.”
10 When they were in the house again, the disciples asked Jesus about this.
11 He answered, “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her.
12 And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery.”
Matthew 19
3 Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?”
4 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator
made them male and female,' 5 and said, For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.” 7 “Why then,” they asked, "did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?"8 Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.9 I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery.”
1 Corinthians 7
10 To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband.
11 But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife.
12 To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her.
13 And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him.
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. Even so husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no man ever hates his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one.” - Ephesians 5:25-31
As you can see…not all “protestants” disagree with us!!
