I am in the process of reading the entire Bible for the first time. Some of the books I never hear read at Mass on Sunday. Why is this? Similarly, I noticed that protestant churches tend to have the same readings each Sunday that we do in the Catholic Church. If we have seven texts (plus additional verses from others) that the protestants have taken out, how can the two always coincide on Sunday? Are the deuterocanonical texts not read at Mass? Why?

Judges, Ruth, 1 Chronicles, Ezra, Tobit, Judith, Esther, 1 Maccabees, Song of Solomon, Lamentations, Obadiah, Nahum, Haggai.

www.lectionary.com you can compare Sunday readings from the Protestant’s Revised Common Lectionary and those read at Sunday Mass. There you will see that, although they for the most part coincide, there are some differences.
It is just a guess but I suspect that some books are not read because there is simply too much Bible and too little time.
