What should guests do at Mass?

I am a Protestant who regularly attends church with my Catholic husband (second marriage for both of us). I don’t make the sign of the cross but do put my hand over my heart. What is appropriate here? I have been learning the prayers and am trying to learn more about the history of the Catholic Church. Any help you can provide would be great. Thank you.
