Hello, This is my first time on the web, I usually listen on the radio. I have a question regarding my sons Catholic High School. I have learned that the health class has been teaching human sexuality utilizing this site
My friends daughter is a few years ahead of my son. My friend went to the teacher asking for the materials on the health class. She was provided was information on artificial contraception, that was down loaded off this site. I brought this to the pastor last spring, who expressed his disapproval, even going so far to say he fired teachers for this in the past. The pastor took the materials, and said he would get back in touch about this. A week went by I had not heard from him, so I dropped in to ask about what he planned to do about the class. My pastor indicated that he would have a committee to address the class. We discussed Theology of The Body for Teens. My pastor stated I could be on this committee. Now it is eight months later, I have not attended any meetings,because there haven’t been any. I have been wondering what is going on so asked my pastor last Sunday. My pastor assured me I have nothing to worry about, they will teach TOB. I just happened to be at the High School open house, so I asked the the person who teaches the health class about her class. I was shocked that she indicated she continues to teach the same class, going over artificial contraception. I really feel as if I am getting the run around. I have been told to go to the High School Principal, and ask her about the class. I have raised this issue demonstrating the web site were the materials come from, likely receive funding from Planned Parenthood. Sadly, this doesn’t phase my pastor, or the other associate I spoke to. The associate was very defensive, stating he gave the kids a class on chasty. I reiterate one class period on chasty. I am not sure where to turn now, and wonder if I am over reacting to what is taught to these catholic high school students. Mary
