I am so disheartened right now. I have a 32 year old daughter. She has had four children out of wedlock (different fathers), I have custody of the children (6, 9. 12 and 14 years of age). She had another child (who I was also raising) but he died suddenly at the age of 5. The mother has never lived full time with the children, I have always raised them, making sure they know the faith and trying to teach them to live the faith. They attend Mass weekly with me, receive the sacraments, attend Catholic schools, etc.I have never prevented her from seeing or contacting the kids thru phone calls, visits or on facebook. She purchased cell phones for the kids so talks to them daily. For the past six months or so, their mother who lives about 4 hours away (and visits every 3 months) has started to undermine our beliefs (which she was also raised in). Stating I am ruining their lives by all the mumble jumbo . She has taken to telling the children in person, that there is no God, the older two are starting to revolt against going to Mass, or respect for the priests, etc/ Stating Mom doesn’t believe it, why should we. This weekend I caught her smoking weed with the 12 year in the garage - I am 66 years old - I don’t know what to do or how to control these kids when she is doing things like this behind my back. Of course, the two older ones think their mom is cool and I am being mean when I told them, never will this happen in my home again.I could stop the visits, but contact by phone, computer will always be there. She laughed at me and said I was ruining the children’s lives by 'MAKING 'them go to church. She states God wasn’t there when the boy died. With the two teenagers, I am so concerned they will turn outlike she has, and all my decdication of raising them since babies was for nothing. Any suggestions or comfort would be greatly appreciated.
