What do I do about my daughter and son-in-law not attending Sunday Mass with their children, or at least sending their children to Holy Mass. They know where I stand on this issue, because in the past whenever they asked me what I wanted as a gift for special occasions, i.e. my birthday, Christmas, Mother’s Day, etc. I have also answered "for you to go to church. They’ve stopped asking (including my unmarried son).
All of their children have received First Holy Communion. I feel so responsible, and guilty, but something deep inside tells me to pray and to continue to go myself. Of course, I am imperfect, they see that, and it causes me to take responsibility for their not attending. However, they have signed their children up for Religious Education Classes; and, the kids “hate” going. The children say they don’t like it, and that they don’t learn anything. Yet, if a non-Catholic friend asks them to attend something at their church, they go, and they claim they have fun. This breaks my heart in two.
