My protestant wife and I have an uneasy arrangement whereby our son attends Mass with me one week and attends her service the next.
Recently we received a letter directed to the entire parish from my pastor reminding the parish that children should attend Mass with their parents every Saturday / Sunday. He cited several sections of the CCC as back up for the position.
My wife read the letter and scoffed that that is just “religion” rearing its head.
It was “my” week with our son this past weekend and I took him with me as usual. My wife surprised us by showing up a few moments before the start of Mass.
She received the Eucharist.
She knows my feeling about that as well as the Church’s.
I am not comfortable with her denegrating the Church at one instance and then partaking during the Mass at another.
Is there anything I can / should do?
