Hopefully you will soon be going through the dismissal process in order to more fully break open the Word rather than remaining for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

Congratulations and best wishes for you on your journey.

The First Part of the Mass is traditionally called the Mass of the Catechumens, since catechumens were permitted to attend. The Mass of the Faithful (what you would call the Liturgy of the Eucharist) came afterwards and the ancient practice in the Early Church was only for Catholics to attend. Even the catechumens had to leave at that part.

… Are you asking me to document the Church teaching on his prayer?
Yes, I am asking you to document that exacting teaching. Of course if one of the others would like to show it I would be glad to see it…how long should I wait?

I’m not positive I understand your question, but if you would like background info on spiritual communion you might look at cuf.org/Faithfacts/details_view.asp?ffID=236

It’s from Catholics United for the Faith and includes an excerpt from an encyclical by John Paul II as well as this:

Regarding prayers for spiritual communion, this “Act of Spiritual Communion” is found in the Sacred Apostolic Penitentiary’s Enchiridion of Indulgences:

My Jesus, I believe that you are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love you above all things, and I long for you in my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though you have already come, I embrace you and unite myself entirely to you; never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.

According to the Enchiridion of Indulgences, one gains a partial indulgence by making an act of spiritual communion.

I don’t have the Enchiridion of Indulgences in my library so I have to take their word that it’s in there.
