What should I do for her for Christmas?

I’ve seen this girl a few times, and things have been going rather well. We’re seeing each other again after the holidays, since we’re both going to be visiting family out of town. I was just wondering what I should do for Christmas. I was thinking of sending her an e-card or something. I ended up texting her happy Thanksgiving for Thanksgiving. Should I call her on Christmas? Things are at that stage where it’s hard to define, you know? Thanks in advance!

Well, if you started out by texting “Happy Thanksgiving”, an ecard sounds like the appropriate next step. It’s casual, but if you take the time to pick a good card out (a theme she likes, one to maker her laugh, etc), she’ll be able to see that you put some effort into it.

I don’t know about the Christmas day call - perhaps another text would be better? Maybe it’s just me, but with people answering their cell phones all the time I’m always paranoid about interrupting something important with my 5 second “Hey, just checking in” call. Do you two talk or text more? If you talk regularly, then the call may be a good idea - she just won’t answer if she’s busy, right? And you can leave her a nice message.

One more thing: perhaps when you two get together after the holidays you can bring her a small box of chocolates? My FI did this on our second date. I went to his dormroom to watch a movie and he had a very small (Whitman’s Sampler) box of chocolates for me! It was very nice of him, and small enough that I didn’t feel overwhelmed. That Christmas he gave me a much larger box of the same kind of chocolates and 'fessed up that the small box he gave me a few months earlier was just to make sure I liked them!

Thanks! That sounds good! I think it would be best if I could find one that’s both funny and Christ-centered.

Yea, we haven’t talked much on the phone. It’s been mostly emails and texts. I agree with you that perhaps a call is too much. I’ll probably go with a text again, just in case she doesn’t get the e-card in time.

Heh, way ahead of you on that one! I just gave her a box of chocolates, and she told me that she loves chocolate! I will try to see if I can find something from my home state that I can give her next time we go out.

Thanks again!

If it were me, I’d rather have a real card rather than an e-card. And I like the chocolates idea when you see her after Christmas. My rule for chocolates: QUALITY over quanity.

🙂

Oh that’s so cute!! Congrats and hope things work out well for you!! 😃

I know I love getting messages from my db, when he emails me it’s like once in a great while so I love them whenever I get them…He sent me this message once when we were dating about how great he felt seeing me and talking to me and can’t wait to see me again!! 😉 I know I was surprised when he called me and wished me a Merry Christmas, then sent me an ecard and then a gift by the mail it wasn’t a huge thing but a crystal unicorn, I love unicorns…lol…So I felt very cared for…and loved… 😉

I’d call her late Christmas Evening, like 5 or 6pm, so as not to be intrusive. After lunch, before supper. Start the conversation with something to let her know this will only take a second and then tell her you gotta go-

“Hey! I only have a second, but I wanted to call and wish you a nice Christmas. Mine was good, I’ll tawk to ya when you get home k?” And she’ll say something and then you tell her goodbye, and y’all will tawk when everyone gets home. Take about 8 seconds.

More personal than a text but not over the top. Just my :twocents:

Why how precious! I’ll second that you should call her.

This day and age, and all things considered, I think a text would be just fine. Example “Merry Christmas (Name)! Hope you are having a great visit with your family (or whatever). I’m really looking forward to seeing you on (date).”

That says you’re thinking about her, will be a nice little surprise for her, but not intrusive.

Personally, I’m a big fan of real cards…the kind that go in an envelope and get mailed. It’ll be easier to find a nice one with a religious theme, and if (God willing!) things work out between the two of you, it will be so cool for her to have a tangible reminder of your early dating/courtship days.

Happy card-shopping!

Thanks all! Yea, I think a real card would be better, too, but I don’t have her mailing address. I mean I’ve dropped her off before at where she lives, but I don’t know what the actual address is; I only know the name of the street. Should I ask her for her address? Or would that seem creepy? I’m still vacillating between texting and calling for Christmas. Should I call/text on Christmas Day or Christmas Eve? Thanks again!

It depends if you live where there’s snow or where there isn’t snow, something you can do where there is snow is the best snow sculpture of a person, if you live in a place with out snow, you can get little trees and see who can put the most decorations on one tree.

You can do it the diplomat’s way (e-card) or the soldier’s way (phone). It’s up to you. If you phone, don’t prolong the conversation. You can always ask how she is, but you don’t need to ask about the news. Exchange the wishes and politely finish the conversation unless it goes spectacularly well. If you write an e-card, don’t overdo the sentimental part.

OK, I’ve decided to email her and ask her for her mailing address. Now I just need to pick out a card and figure out what to write on it. Easy stuff, right?

Can’t you look her up in the whitepages? 😉 Or do people do that anymore?
😛

Should I send her anything else along with the card? Like a CD or something? Not really sure what kind of music she likes, since she doesn’t like “favorite” questions. Perhaps a CD of Christmas music? I don’t know. Oh I know! She reads books by Scott Hahn. Any good books/CD’s by Scott Hahn that you would recommend as a gift?

Maybe its my vintage but I think getting a “real” card is better than an ecard. Also sometimes ecards don’t look as good printed out as “real” cards. So think you’ve made a good choice.

Re the book - remember to get a return card so if she already has the Scott Hahn book you choose she can change it. But then she might prefer to give the other copy one away and keep yours!

Like the way you worded the thread - “do for” rather than “buy for”. It’s the wording of a considerate and generous guy.

OK, just got the address from her. Gonna send her one of those new Hallmark talking cards.

why not send her a christmas card and a small box of chocolates. then leave it on her doorstep before she leaves or get the chocolates and card delivered to her place outta town.
Then on christmas day - ring her and see whether she got them, then wish her a happy xmas! but like other posters - dont prolong the conversation!
(yup, double whammy…this gives you an excuse to communicate twice over…lolz)
