What should I do if I forget my penance?

What should we do if we forget our penance after confession? I went to confession today, and after I was done telling the priest everything, I sort of lost focus on what the priest was telling me. I don’t know why, but the minute I walked out of the confessional, I could not remember what my penance was. I did hear “go to adoration for a few minutes” somewhere in there, though. So I walked to adoration, prayed for a few minutes, then said one Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be, since that was my penance for my last confession. Did I respond appropriately?
