There is this guy who I had a class with about 3 years ago. Well, technically he was not in my class – it was the same class but a different time (his was the class right before mine). Anyway, I guess he was late to his class time one day and ended up coming to my class. Before he showed up, my professor had the class split up in groups of 2, however i worked alone because it was an odd number. Right when this guy came in, my professor told him to work with me. So, right from that day he kept coming to the same class time and wouldn’t leave me alone. I had another class that day in the evening and so did he (in the same building, unfortunately). And, he would always follow me or wait by the lounge area at the end of class to talk to me. Everyone noticed his weird behavior , even my professor who told me to tell her and i did. But, i told her i didn;t think he was dangerous so nothing happened. He still bothered me and always seem to find where i was on campus. One day before class, i was checking my email and he looked over and said “oh, your email is your name”. because my email is just my first and last name. When he did that, i knew for sure he would email me maybe couple days or week later. But, it was weird, he ended up emailing i believe right when the semester ended. I transferred to private college and so i figured i would never hear from him again. But, NO – he still emails me and harasses me and even says dirty things in some of his emails. He mentioned he had a wife in one of his emails but he’s kind of young and he doesn’t really seem to make sense - i feel bad in a way bci think maybe he doesn’t have any friends i really don’t know. Anyway, i ignore most of emails, but i told him if he sends me a disgusting message again i will call the cops. after that, he still emailed me and i emailed and told me to stop and if he has a wife he’s being disrespectful to her. again, i told him i would report to the police. I really don’t know what the police will do, but what should i do? i don’t know if this guy is dangerous or not, but sometimes i worry if he could get my address but i don’t think he could. Advice?

Save the e-mails and all other records of corrospondence and get a no contact order, or a restraining order. Peace 😦

Yes, i did save all the emails. one of the reasons i didn’t want to call the police is because once he can’t email me anymore, i’m afraid he might try finding out my address or other information.

If he violates one of these orders, he will go to jail. Most states do not take this crime lightly. If you are afraid for you safety, you should do this. Most of these types of guys are very good at finding out where you are anyway. If he knows your name, he can find you using any number of websites on the internet. I would urge you to get an order. Peace and prayers for your safety. :gopray2:

You are more than welcome. It also would not hurt to take some womens self defense classes, that are geared toward womens self defense. Not karate, this takes too long. These courses concentrate on what a womans strengths are, and can be learned in a very short time. If you are allowed to have pets, I would suggest a police trained belgian shepherd. They are a smaller breed of shepherd that are incredibly loyal, good with nice people, and very protective against those that have hostile intent. this is going to be my next dog. Your safety is paramount. Peace

I would have immediately changed my email name and blocked all of his incoming emails.

I’d notify the police and carry mace for personal protection.

Stop allowing your practice of empathy toward other humans to outweigh your sixth sense about people with deviant behaviors.

I’m surprised the other respondents didn’t mention this, so I will.
Pure and simple this perps’ persistent undesirable behavior toward you, against your request for him to desist is labeled, “STALKING”.
I believe that Stalking is against the law in most USA localities.

I don’t want to change my email because i’ve had this for so long and i like that it’s my entire name with no symbols, etc. i thought about blocking him but i don’t know what happens when you block someone from emailing - does it inform them that i blocked them? what i’m trying to do is not have him resort to finding out my address or where i work , etc. i think i’m going to report it to the police bc i don’t know what else to do … and if he does have a wife it’s making me even more creeped out !!

I do not advise mace. You would never have time to bring it up. Most attackers will surprise a woman, and grab her from behind, I do not advise carrying a guy either, Although these are great for defense in your home. Shotguns are the best for this. there are many places that teach women self defence techniques that are specifically designed to utilize all their strengths. They do work. And there are no external implements to carry that can be used against you.

However, being from Michigan myself, I can tell The OP, that she can get a concealed carry permit. That is up to her. There are many places that teach women self defence techniques that are specifically designed to utilize all their strengths. They do work. And there are no external implements to carry that can be used against you. One more thing. The Michigan State Police are awesome. If she files a report, I think this guy will get the message.
