I am new to these boards, just found it while googling Christian sites to get real advice from other christians like me, Idk what to do anymore, this is my problem: I’m in love with another boy >.>
He knows I like him, But homosexuality is wrong, how do I cure myself from these thoughts I am having?
All I think of is hugging and kissing him ;________;
I haven’t told anyone, not even my parents or pastor, do any of you have any advice? I need some fast >.>

I wrote a rather long post about this issue last night, but it seems that the thread got deleted.

My first advice is to calm down. It seems that you are young - you are in no position to really know if you are homosexual or not, at least I wouldn’t say so. There is no test, no expert that can tell you if you really are homosexual. All you have is your emotions to guide you, and emotions are often unsure, confused, and changing. With that in mind, and your youth, how could you possibly make such a mature realization and not make a few mistakes? So, again, my first piece of advice is to calm down. Be wise. Be patient. Sure, you will have some anxiety, but develop a healthy detachment to this, observe yourself, pray, and see where this goes. I went through, more or less, the same thing, and, to make a long story short, I am now definitely more attracted to women than men. There are a lot of similar stories, though the scientific data is still inconclusive, I think. That being said, social sciences are notoriously difficult to conduct, so I would not take the inconclusiveness of the data to mean anything quite yet.

If it really turns out that you are attracted to the same-sex and can’t do anything about it, well, that is both a blessing and a curse. It is a curse because the narrow road just got a lot tougher for you. But it is also a blessing because you can accept your challenge heroically, and live the life of the Gospel ever more purely and more, well, badass - I like that word. 👍 The light of Christ will shine ever more brilliantly because of your unique cross and sacrifice out of love for God, and that’s quite inspiring and cool if you think about it. Paradoxically, your challenge gives you a place of honor and respect over and above us, since, in God’s Kingdom, it is those with the most hardships who are exalted. That is authentically Catholic, and you’ll be a spiritual, well, badass. I hope you don’t mind me using that term, but that’s how awesome it could be - your example, your courage, and your sacrifice could save many souls. That is what we are called to do - to take that narrow road. It may seem tough at first, but it gets easier as you go along because you’ll get tons of exercise on the trek. Those who take the wide road, though, will find that it narrows (as the ways of the world rule over them) while you will find that your road widens (as the ways of the spirit give you authentic freedom, discipline, and control to achieve whatever you want).

Distance yourself from temptation to sin.
Figure out what is causing these urges. Do you have many male friends, or are most of your friends female? Do you have a strong masculine identity? Is your father abusive or neglectful? If you relate more to females than males, there is a greater likelyhood that you will develop same-sex attraction.
Get involved with other guys in nonsexual activities. You could join a club or meetup group. Definitley get involved in the faith. Several males have left homosexuality after establishing friendships with Christian men who are strong in their faith.
This could also be a man-crush: you feel this way because you admire the other guy and look up to or want to be like him, not because you are gay. This will pass in time.

I would pray and talk to a Priest or a Catholic counsellor about this. Someone who will help you face your demons instead of brushing them under the rug, pretending nothing is wrong, and then you die of an STD or anal or another type of cancer 20+ years before the average male lifespan (yes, the average lifespan for a homosexual male is shorter than that of a smoker due to disease and suicide/depression). This is a cross to carry, but always know that God is with you every step of the way. Offer your sacrifice of not sinning against your urges as atonement for your sin or the sins of others who don’t know better.

Windfish, Your post comforts me a bit, but I am confused about what the bible says on it, most say it’s wrong, homosexuality that is. And if I were to depart from it I would be losing the only person I have loved in a long time. I am probably more bisexual then homosexual in context to be honest.

Stephe1987.
I am usually a pretty asexual person, since I met this guy, who is a friend we have grown close together alot. I have both female and male friends, I’m not attracted to any of them sexually or romantically expect this one.
Do you have a strong masculine identity?
Yeah, I guess, nothing very feminine about me, but he is petite and fragile like a flower. ;__;
Is your father abusive or neglectful?
No, he is a hard working caring father, like most.
I have grown away from my faith slowly, sadly, Since this accord, but isn’t that what jesus wants? Us to love >.>
I don’t know, I still attend church in a regular basis but I’m losing interest, I’m sure that is natural but I don’t know how this will end.
It all comes down to love in my opinion, should I choose love or my faith? Isn’t my faith love? and love my faith? I don’t know anymore 😦

General advice: You are going to have to learn to ignore sinful thoughts when they first pop into your head. Don’t dwell on them; don’t give them a second thought.

Specific advice: When a sinful thought about your friend pops into your head, say to yourself, “No, that’s wrong.” Then pray, “Lord Jesus, help my friend find a good, God-fearing wife who can help him on his journey to eternal life.” Then try thinking about something else.

There is something that is in your heart and or, your mind that you believe is true about yourself that is not true about yourself. And since you believe it, then you begin to submit to it. And since the Lord says that what you believe about yourself is a no go in this case, “so to speak” then it is of Him that you will be able to be as the Lord would have you be. The Lord provides the Way for you to be as He made you. Hence what ever it is that brought you to believe that this is true about yourself must be replace with the Truth. If you trust the Word of God is true, then set the issue before Him in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. And let Him show you how to be as He would have you be.

It’s my understanding that there are Christian organizations that deal with this issue directly, I apologize that I don’t know who they are.

Again what God made you to be is obvious, so why are you lead to believe that anything else is true, unless it be in you, that does not have to be in you, that is not true. Don’t be fooled by your feelings, for at this time they are just feelings desires that are misguided, in your believe that something is true that is not true about yourself.

The heart always seeks fulfillment of what is in it. And until that is replace with what is in the Lord’s Heart then, it’s going to be a tough road for you. May the Lord have Mercy and Give you Light.

I think you have hit on a very important point. And one that can be very confusing, especially when you are younger…That is “Love”.
Yes God wants us to Love. In fact, in Mt 22:36-40 Christ tells us that the two great commandments are about Love and that everything else is built off of these…

But don’t confuse “Romantic” Love with “Agape”, or Godly and brotherly, Love. Don’t confuse sexual attraction, lust, infatuation etc for love. These are all very different things.
True Love. Love that is Godly does not seek it’s own gain. It seeks the highest good for the object of love. In the case of a Christian, that highest good is to see that those you love get to heaven. One cannot serve that love while at the same time entertaining desires to enter into a disordered relationship.

Now why is homosexuality disordered you might ask…This is actually quite simple…The sex act, and the emotions and desires that go along with it are, by design, ordered toward procreation. That is what the sex organs are for - pure and simple. If there was no need for procreation, God would not have designed us with sex organs…
The emotion, the desires, the pleasure, that is derived from romantic love and sexual contact etc. has many benefits but the basic fact remains that sex is ordered toward procreation and anything not in accordance with this proper order is, by definition, dis-ordered. Homosexuality is a disordered use of sex. It cannot ever be ordered toward procreation.
Now - I just want to introduce you to something else that might help you understand…A sin is not something that is “against” some arbitrary rule. The Greek and Hebrew words for sin, actually have as their primary meaning “error”, or taking the wrong path. So sin, is to err in the proper Love and use of God’s Gifts, or to take a path away from doing the will of God.
Since God designed us in a certain way - sex for procreation - to use it in a way that is completely contrary to that purpose is an error…or “sin” using the language of faith.

And just as a note…People with SSA (same sex attraction) are not the only ones who must struggle with “disordered” sexual temptations. Things like premarital sex, masturbation, adultery etc are all similar crosses to the one you are struggling with. So we are all in this together my friend.

Please keep attending Church and praying for understanding.
But don’t expect God to grant you some avenue to allow you to justify a disordered love. That is not His way.
God will grant you wisdom. He will also guide you, just as He guided you here.
Reflect carefully on what it truly means to Love one another as God has loved us.

Peace
James

Dear Brother in Christ,

God loves you and has placed this boy in your life. You are called to be a friend to him and maybe guide him. You don’t say, but if this is the first boy you have had these kind of feelings about it is more than likely because there is something about him have makes you want to take care of him. Be with him and help him. A lot of times, these kind of feeling can be confused with a romantic kind of feeling.

In todays world this can happen easily because we are blasted from most all sides telling us that it is ok to be involed sexully with those of the same gender. You know it is not and that is why you came here. You can be his friend you care help him, be there for him and become the best friends either of you have ever had or may ever have. But you can not let it go beyound that. To begin with you know also that out side of marriage sex is wrong regardless of the genders of those involed.

My advice be his friend, but limit the time you are alone with him till you have these feels undercontrol. Do not give into temptation. It is harder to stop doing something than it is to never start. Pray, then pray some more. When you have done all the Praying you can pray some more. You also say he knows how you feel about him you need to tell him that it can never go beyound friendship and he needs to help you with that, If he is as good a friend to you as you seem to be to him he will respect that and work toward a pure and goddly friendship with you as well.

God Bless, you both are in my prayers.

Yes, Jesus wants us to love. But it is important to know what it means to love someone according to God’s will.
To “love” means to will and do what is for the good of the other person – their good here on earth, but most especially what is good for their eternal well-being. Love would not do anything that would endanger the eternal welfare of the other person’s soul.

Nowadays, people confuse lust with love. Lust is the total opposite of love. Lust is selfish; it seeks to satisfy oneself; one’s desires. Homosexual acts are forbidden by God. In case no one has ever given you the Scripture references that tell us this, here they are: Leviticus 18:22; Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Timothy 1:10 (sodomites); Jude 7 (unnatural lust).

You are right in that our faith all comes down to love, provided it is the love Jesus was speaking of.
Matthew 22:37-40 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets.”

Almost everyone undergoes temptations to some form of sexual sin. It is a battle, especially when one is young. Your temptation is homosexual desires that tempt you to homosexual acts; for another it can be heterosexual desires that tempt them to masturbation, fornication, or adultery. They are all serious sins and the “battle” against them must be fought. Remember, you are called to love yourself also – to do what is good for your eternal welfare.

Will remember you in prayer at Mass this morning.

Luke 10:27
He answered: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’

Matthew 6:24
No-one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

Matthew 10:37
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Leviticus 18:22
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

2 Corinthians 12:9
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Romans 1:24-32 (Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition)
24Wherefore God gave them up to the desires of their heart, unto uncleanness, to dishonour their own bodies among themselves.
Code:
25Who changed the truth of God into a lie; and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26For this cause God delivered them up to shameful affections. For their women have changed the natural use into that use which is against nature.

27And, in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, have burned in their lusts one towards another, men with men working that which is filthy, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due to their error.

28And as they liked not to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them up to a reprobate sense, to do those things which are not convenient;

29Being filled with all iniquity, malice, fornication, avarice, wickedness, full of envy, murder, contention, deceit, malignity, whisperers,

30Detractors, hateful to God, contumelious, proud, haughty, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31Foolish, dissolute, without affection, without fidelity, without mercy.

32Who, having known the justice of God, did not understand that they who do such things, are worthy of death; and not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them.
You have a choice, you can choose to love God and ask him to give you grace to deal with this temptation or you can turn your back on God for this mere carbon life form.

Your wisest choice would be to confess this to a priest. Make friends with older men who have dealt with at least the temptation of beautiful women to make yourself accountable to them. Discuss it honestly with godly parents and godly friends. Only be around the person you are tempted by in group settings with other believers in Christ. Get godly counsel, seek God on your knees. Remember practicing gay lifestyle is an abomdation to God. For the next month you may want to study the book of Proverbs in a gender nutural translation like the TNIV.

I know what you guise are saying, it is wrong and I should stop.
But love is all I have in this life, I’m not a materialist, I’m a pacifist, I donate blood/money.

We don’t stop genocide in regions like rwanda and darfur, but we invade nations like iraq and justify it with freedom, makes no sense anymore. >.>
My normal state of mind is one devoid of emotion, I pray but I can’t feel, I love god for his creation and don’t blame him for how my
life turned out so far, I know I am better off then most, better off then my ancestors who fled their nation to reach this one.
When I look deep into his eyes, it gives me new life, a life so eloquent like a graceful flower, without him who am I? Just an atom
at the center of a star, looking for a path out. Looking for meaning in this life, looking for gods help.

The feeling is so strong, just want
to hug him and let him tell me it’s okay to be afraid, it’s okay to cry, that this world might be cruel, but there is hope. But if I do that,
as you guise said, I would be living a life of sin. And if I leave him or dis-attach myself from him, I have nothing, I attend church regularly, also have
attended some youth groups, and talked to my priest about this, they’ve said the same, to give it up, to give him up for my faith.
If I do I will enter into an increased state of depression, I can’t have that which truly makes me happy, the person who makes me smile every
time I talk to him, the person who makes me want to do something with my life just to be with them. I give and give, and never get nothing
in return, but that is fine with me because that is what god wants us to do, but the only thing I want is to feel. he brings me happiness.
I am doing better at alot of things because I am confident and happy, but I still have my religion, my faith which tells me it’s wrong
to think of him ‘that’ way. And yes, I do thing of him that way, he almost kissed me once even. |:

I try to go on everyday living my life good, I have never done anything bad to anyone, even if they have done bad to me, I am the nicest person
You could meet, but I can’t even cry anymore because I feel nothing in this world, I do good because it’s in me, but when I do it, I feel nothing.
I have had ‘gf’ in the past, but this is so different, the immense happiness that brings me alive is the same that will bring me to sin.
I don’t know what to do, every time his heart is near mine, I feel all warm and cozzy, alive, feeling like I came back to this world from an unknown
reality. I am young, but I’ve seen and experiences things not many have, I’ve been
abused as a child, been scarred for life, I’ve seen depression at
it’s worst, I’m not rich at all, but I still give what I have. The worst thing I have done in life, be devoid of emotions.
I used to just cry myself to sleep every night, but now I can’t even do that. I looked for comfort in the bible but I don’t get it.
A friend of mine told me cutting myself would make me feel, but even that didn’t work, looking at the blood drip off my arms I saw that it was useless
I didn’t even feel cold, it’s hard to explain, but looking at my family members I know my depression won’t stop because I want it too, my dad takes
anti depressants, my mom is one of the most devout Christians in our whole church but even she is heavily depressed.

I don’t know what to do, if I do one or the other there are immense consequences, it is very confusing.
I’m just a leaf slowly falling from the sky, just waiting for a gust of wind to push me into the right direction.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (1Corinthians 13:4-8)

Son, men hug one another men comfort one another, Men enjoy time spent with other men. These things at not sinful. You are young and have and confused. That is normal a lot of young men go through a time of doubt and confusion like this you have a very compassionate heart and God has given you the ability to feel deeply about the evils of the world.

However Satan is the master of lies and the twister of truth. He is taking the love that Gos has given you and is trying to prevert it to what it should not be. He is twisting it. I pray that you stay strong in the Lord at this time of trial. really dig deep into your prayer life and surround your self with those that will strenghten you to fight this. To show you true love and bonding between men.

It is our nature to justify what’s in our own hearts. But the Truth is the only Justified heart is the Heart of Jesus Christ. Therefore what is in His Heart matters.

To seek to blame the world, or God for letting the world be like it is as a reason to not take refuge in the Lord, and make a take your own choices for yourself, will not stand before the Lord God. Nor will it stand any longer then your flesh be. But to come into agreement with God’s Choice for you, namely Jesus Christ as the right choice, and your own choices be wrong. That will stand forever. Jesus Christ is the Justification of those who believe, and such choices you speak of, are not found in Him.

What is in man’s heart God has declared:
Gen:8:21: And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

What is in the Heart of Jesus Christ now sits at the Right Hand of God the Father the Almighty. That we be Justified in Him.
It is to lay down our own hearts to be at rest, and seek His.

If you seek to justify what in your own heart, your probably in the wrong place. But if you seek justification in Jesus Christ. Then repent, and repent again as much as necessary.

You are obviously in a very difficult struggle and we here cannot give the council you need. You MUST seek out a good confessor and a good spiritual councilor who can take the time to help you work through all of this. Your soul and the soul of your friend is at stake. Not for any pleasure here on earth but through all eternity.

Peace
James
