Yes,the property is private and if someone is abusing it and harrassing they must be removed .This story reminds me.re: fake nuns…a few years back at a large parish meeting a visiting ‘nun’ delivered a presentation on new changes in the church and how wonderful it will be for all concerned…she was soooo charming,a vistor as I recall from a Southern parish,(I am from New York) well, several women in the audience during the question and answer period just gushed and thru teary eye adulation…asked her to transfer up here etc etc…well something just was not right with her whole persona…so after some 10 min.of smiles and compliments.I asked her this " Sister,Do you believe that Jesus was the Son of God?!..she was taken aback and before she could compose hereself revealed “No,I dont!” then the pastor jumped up and said “what, and …and do you believe…” from that point on he exposed her for what she was…a demon in a modified habit…charming, sweet and so poised…for a while anyway…during the moments when our pastor…now rip…was exposing her non-belief I just up and silently walked out the rear door…Hi Ho Silver…away…(.PS.I always recite a silent Hail Mary at these confrontations…before I speak so any good that happens is not from me,dont worry I realize that…)
Nino, I’m curious, what promoted you to ask that question? 🤷

This sounds like the anti-harrassment order or peace bond had run out and the nut knew it.
This NUT???

Clearly the woman is mentally unstable, and even the priest said as much. I would think a bit of charity is in order here, regardless of how strange the situation may be.

Now mentally ill people are nuts - lovely.

I thought “nut” is the most succinct word to describe this behavior. Being nuts myself, the word doesn’t always carry the worst connotation. At least I’m in denial over that. ha ha ha.

sorry i’m not entirely politically correct.

this woman excoriating a stranger right after Mass about the way she dresses, when this person is dressed like a nun that she isn’t, clearly is demonstrating nutty behavior.

I tend to sympathize with lizzane’s description and am offering support.

Why are you picking on me? This is about lizzane.

People - regardless of what illness they may or may not have - are “nuts” if they bother and harrass other people to the point of making them afraid for their safety.

It’s easy to have compassion for their situation when we are at a safe distance, but if she was picking on you and threatening you, I doubt you would be fawning over her saying, “Dear, dear, how can we help you?” I’m sure you’d be running the other way, too.

Perhaps - but I would NEVER be calling her a nut behind her back after the fact!!!

This forum is really begining to concern me lately.

Why on earth not? It’s an apt description of how she was behaving, and how she was making people feel.

“Nut” refers to someone who is acting in a threatening and unpredictable manner - surely, that’s a perfect description of what was going on here.

I agree with those who say to call the police.

This will not bring harm to the woman. On the contrary, they will probably refer her to a local hospital and/or mental health organization in your town or city. There, she will be able to get help. Perhaps she is refusing to comply with her meds. Or perhaps her meds are no longer efficacious.

At any rate, you will be helping this woman by calling the police. The mentally-ill who wander the streets are at extreme risk for being raped, abused, robbed, conned, and murdered.

Also, you will be helping others. It is possible that if this woman’s meds are not correct, she could become physically violent. She is already delusional and verbally violent.

I have a real heart for the mentally-ill. One of my best friends suffers from paranoid schizophrenia, and until she was diagnosed and agreed to treatment, she wandered the streets. Her parents didn’t know how to help her and neither did her friends (like me). I’m not sure how exactly she got into the mental health system in our city, but it has been a wonderful thing for her. She lives in a nice apartment in a sheltered institution, with constant supervision, although she is allowed to go out with “community friends” like me. She receives medical and psychiatric treatment. And she has friends in the institution.

I hope this woman will receive help soon. Thanks for your concern and willingness to do something to help her. A lot of people would just tell her to get lost. You sound like someone who actually cares.

Ignore the pants argument. If your priest is OK with what you wear, it’s OK. If by some chance it is a sin, then it is the priest who has to answer to Jesus for allowing women in his parish to wear slacks. (I think that Pope Benedict XVI allows women to wear slacks at his Masses, doesn’t he? So he’s in trouble, too.)

The greater issue here is the need that this mentally-ill person has for help. It won’t matter if that help is given to her by a woman who wears slacks. Jesus made it clear that spirit of the law is more important than letter of the law.

jmcrae - actually “nut” is a derogatory word used to describe those who have a mental illness. It is neither a nice word or one that really described this woman. She has a mental problem to be sure but she is not a nut!

Oh yeah, you mean like you jumping in on another thread and implying I’m a liar in that thread because I cant be bothered to justify myself to another cynic on that thread and you know next to nothing about me. That kind of concern you mean :rolleyes:

Yeah I’m concerned to - in fact so concerned I cant be arsed with the holier than thou self righteous idiots like you and estesbob on this board any more. The place has a few wonderful people that I have gained much from exchanging with, but in the main I have found this place to be full of pillocks.

I’m outa here - and it’s a shame - because I thought CAF would be an excellent resource for someone like me trying to find their way back to the church and understand the church - but so long as hypocritical cynics like you are on it, it’s not a place I would ever want to be.

Chow everyone

Now this is a nut.

"holier than thou self righteous idiots " that’s funny!! I pray I can one day be holy at ALL!! In the mean time I will defend my Faith to the death - if that’s considered being a “self righteous idiot” then sign me up!! 😃 👍

Actually, in this case, my guess is that Sister was right and women should not wear pants. You might want to brush up a bit on Scriptures and why it is wrong for women to wear pants, especially to Church. Here is a site that you can consult:
lffa-ollmpc.com/standards.htm
As Father points out, modesty in dress excludes women from wearing “pants, slacks, culottes, jeans, shorts and such, as they have been proven to be men’s attire, and harmfull for women and society at large, and against God’s command in Deut. 22:5.”
Only if one is a jew…

OK, let’s get back to the thread.

I’ve got two, two-word bits of advice for the OP:
  1. Call Police.
  2. Restraining order.
If you’re concerned for your safety, that is. “Nuts” or not, this fake nun should not be allowed to harass parishioners on the premises; such should not be confused with being uncharitable.

Just reading thru and decided to put my two cents in for whatever it’s worth…

This woman is obviously deranged. Her actions is therefore unpredictable. Anyone who comes at you like she has is definitely capable of anything. If she is that bold…

A story in the papers a while back.

A lady was going through a divorce because of her physically abusive husband. After repeated police calls, she finally gets a court date, (he was “talked to” by the police)

The court house was next door to the police dept. The lady got out of her car and headed toward the court house, when all of a sudden her x showed up and shot and killed her right in the parking lot of the police department.

Anyone, who accosts you anywhere, don’t get into a conversation, just get away asap. Then call whatever authorities and press charges. If the priest won’t do , then YOU do it.

As far as the pants, I am in my elderly years and I stay very cold,
I cannot wear a dress and be warm enough. I shall wear my pants until the POPE himself says not to.

There is entirely TOO much condemnation of “petty” things these days. Our Lord will not be judging our outfits on that fateful day, he’ll be judging our souls…

And, He’ll also be judging those who judge others 😃

The priest was wrong in dismissing her so lightly as “harmless”, and asking you to tolerate this confrontational woman. It sounds perfectly Christian, but let’s be practical. I would go as far as carrying an umbrella or a stick to “mockingly” threaten her the next time, saying you were God’s avenger…but that may just be mean. You do not want to be afraid to attend Mass do you? This woman should be brought to the Pastor’s FULL attention, and the poor thing should be dealt with as one of God’s children, but firmly.
Thank you Grandpop. I felt also that the priest took the situation too lightly and so i wrote a letter to him explaining what happened and my concern for my safety.

Cat…even before I started to go to Mass at this TLM Oratory I called and visited with the priest. I asked him point blank if there was a problem with wearing pants and he firmly stated that there was no problem. In the bulletin the dress code is spelled out and nowhere does it even mention women not wearing pants. It mentions about short dresses and shorts and revealing blouses. Thank you for your supportive words.

I agree and “if” there were to be a next time the police would be called.

Thank everyone for your help in this situation.🙂
