What should I say to a "psychic" friend?

I have a good friend that claims to be psychic and able to see and communicate with ghosts and spirits. The problem is that she claims to be and thinks of herself as a devout Christian and thinks that her “talents” are a “gift from God.” I have told her that while Catholics do not dispute the existence of spiritual beings, we should not actively attempt to seek them out. She disagrees. What can I do in this situation?

Tell her kindly but firmly that you don’t want to discuss her “psychic” experiences any further—unless, of course, she wants your help in finding someone who will help her deal with such experiences in a manner in keeping with Christian orthodoxy. If you’ve relayed Catholic teaching on the subject and she rejects it, then all you can do is to make clear to her that you do not want to discuss her involvement with this. If she cannot or does not respect your wishes to refrain from discussing her activities with you, then all you can do at that point is to distance yourself from her.
