What should you do if you think you are in love with a priest?

Good men are really hard to find in today’s world and priests are very beautiful men. Our parish priest is kind, considerate, loving, funny, witty, eloquent, friendly…I could go on. These are qualities that women want in a man. These are qualities that us women can fall in-love with - BIG TIME. !

However, you only ever see this man when he is doing the work of God. You don’t see him when he’s on the toilet, arguing with his father, farting in bed, grumpy…etc. You don’t see him as a human who also has mixed qualities (good and bad) just like the rest of us.

I wouldn’t necessarily leave the parish, but a priest is supposed to be a father figure or brother figure, not a husband/boyfriend figure. Picture him as your spiritual brother and ask Blessed Mary to help you evolve in your relationship with him.

You are a good woman for coming here for advice. It means that you care about this priest’s well being. As another poster mentioned, when we love someone, we want what’s best for them. Leaving this priest alone and getting your feelings in order is what’s best for him. You’ll also have a lot of respect for yourself for doing the right thing.

I once read that women are very attracted to spiritual men. They appeal to our emotional needs. I believe it, and wonder if this could be the case with you. Perhaps you are in love with his spirituality and his commitment and love for God. It can be confusing and I feel for you.

I really can’t help but think if you ride this out the waters will seem less muddy and your feelings will become more clear.

I would say keep going to Mass at your parish, point your eyes to the Altar and not his chair.

I would NOT tell him.

hi… i am a new member of this forum and I’d like to seek advice from people re my feelings for our parish priest.
I’ve been trying to avoid him but since i am part of the commentator/lector ministry of our parish, i still see him every time i serve. am i committing sin? what should i do?

My first thought was just to say, “Get over it” then I considered your age.
There are many, many men out there that have not given themself to the Lord. Fall in love with them.
