I have never heard of the band China Crisis. I agree there’s certainly some similarities in elements with Steely Dan {on the Aja LP}. I looked it up and saw Walter Becker produced this - makes sense.

One major difference I find with most blues/jazz/pop acts is the lyrical content. Donald Fagen and Walter Becker of Steely Dan tend to write quite sardonically - though make some statements I have found either entertaining or interesting.

Another tune that is in the same sonic ballpark. This solo LP is a bit more biographical about being raised in the last 50’s and early 60’s.
