Matt Bellamy (lead vocalist, guitar): ‘The song comes from when you do get a bit burnt out from being on the road for too long […] “Something Human” came out, which is a more tender, down-to-earth, simplistic song about what it feels like to be burned out and wanting to get home to a more normal life after being on the road for a couple years.’

I recently went through and listened to the whole Helloween discography. I forgot how much I like them. I haven’t listened to their newer albums as much (and “newer” for me means anything after 2003 😝).

I actually think Helloween made much of their best music from The Dark Ride through Straight Out of Hell. Gambling with the Devil, in particular, is one of my favorite albums of all time.

Unfortunately, as much as I love the Keeper albums and Kiske’s vocals in general, the Kiske era will always be tainted for me by the other two albums they released with him.

I don’t know, I kind of get into “Windmill” for some reason. 😜

I first started listening to them with Time of the Oath. I’ve always liked Deris better than Kiske, too. Those first 3 Deris albums have always been my favorites because those are the ones I listened to the most way back when. I’m starting to appreciate the more recent albums now, though. I doubt anything will ever surpass Better Than Raw for me. Too much nostalgia. 🤩

Since we’re on the topic of Helloween, the band recently confirmed that they’re going to be working on a full album for 2020 that will include Kiske and Hansen and will be written by Deris, Hansen, and Weikath! I eagerly await their cover of “Windmill” used to troll fans. (Personally, I don’t hate Chameleon, but I think it should have been a side project for the members that were interested, not released as a Helloween album.)

Heard someone playinng some classic rock out on the golf course, including Born on the Bayou by CCR. Had my best round if the year.

I heard that news, too. I only recently learned that they’ve been touring with all three of their past and present vocalists. Very cool that they are going to be working together for the next album!

Proof that nothing is impossible! I never thought I’d see Kiske return to metal let alone rejoin Helloween. Crazy times we live in. 😁

Yes, I think you’re right about Chameleon. It would have made more sense as a side-project.
