Sadly, I have been a non-practicing Catholic for many years. What steps do I need to go through to become a practicing Catholic? I was baptized into the Catholic church as an infant, attended the Catholic school for 8 years (then had to go to public school as the Catholic school only went to grade 8). My first marriage was to another Catholic and was performed with the Catholic Mass. After 10 years of a physical and verbal abusive marriage, I divorced. I was single for 17 years and re-married 4years ago to a non-church attending, but wonderful man. Since my divorce in 1987, I began to not attend church and finally stopped. (I have 3 grown children who were all baptized into the Catholic church, 30 years ago.) For reasons yet unknown to me, I have felt a “calling” to return to my Catholic church. I began attending again with my parents this past Ash Wednesday and again today. I felt absolutely blessed!!! except for not receiving communion, this part left me devasted. I have briefly spoken to my priest about the need to talk to him and will be making an appointment this week. Meanwhile, if anyone can enlighten me on what I am facing, please share with me. I know I have a long road ahead, but I am commiting myself to worshipping in my Catholic church, to be with my Catholic family, but most of all, to worship Jesus Christ.
Prayers to all, thank you for listening!!
